Thin-Skin Trump vs. Ryan, McCain, and Everyone
Thin-Skin Trump vs. Ryan, McCain,
Thin-Skin Trump has struck again! Just this week alone, not only did Donald Trump pick a fight with the Muslim-American family of a fallen U.S. soldier, but he also picked a fight with 2 prominent members of his own political party — and it’s only Wednesday!
Yes, Thin-Skin Trump — the new de facto leader of the Republican Party, who tweets nasty messages at 3am like a scorned school girl to anyone who dares to disagree with him — is simply too sensitive to remain silent. So, instead of fighting the real battle against his actual political opponent, Hillary Clinton, he waged a completely unnecessary war against House Speaker Paul Ryan and Sen. John McCain. You just can’t make this stuff up, folks!
Like most things Thin-Skin Trump says or does, his GOP colleagues have become accustomed to regularly being forced to distance themselves from his brand of logic. Such was the case this week when Trump attacked Khzir Khan and his wife, who are the Gold Star parents of Capt. Humayun Khan, who was killed in service to his country. Ryan and McCain quickly issued statements to admonish Trump for attacking the parents of a fallen American hero. They also wanted to protect their own reputations and to salvage whatever scraps are left of the GOP.
Thin-Skin Trump didn’t appreciate yet another public chastisement of him. So he threatened to take his marbles and go home by refusing to support Paul Ryan and John McCain during their upcoming reelection campaigns. SO THERE!
In an interview on Tuesday with The Washington Post, Trump announced he will not back Ryan in his primary election next Tuesday in Wisconsin, or McCain in his Arizona primary later this month. His reason? Both men criticized his belittling of the Muslim parents.
“I like Paul, but these are horrible times for our country. We need very strong leadership. We need very, very strong leadership. And I’m just not quite there yet. I’m not quite there yet,” Trump said when asked if he would support Ryan. If those words sound familiar, they are the exact words Paul Ryan used when he was initially asked about supporting Trump. Now, Thin-Skin Trump is doing what he does best and getting revenge.
As for his other fellow Republican, Trump also made it clear “I haven’t endorsed John McCain.
“I’ve never been there with John McCain because I’ve always felt that he should have done a much better job for the vets,” Trump continued. “He has not done a good job for the vets, and I’ve always felt that he should have done a much better job for the vets. So I’ve always had a difficult time with John for that reason because our vets are not being treated properly. They’re not being treated fairly.” Also, Trump doesn’t consider McCain a war “hero” because he was captured and a real hero would never be captured.
Naturally, the Democrats are having a veritable field day with the Republican antics. After all, they don’t have to spend a dime on TV ads. They don’t have to create talking points for news shows. All they have to do is sit back and allow Donald Trump completely destroy HIMSELF!
On Tuesday, not only did he reiterate that Donald Trump is totally unfit to be Commander-In-Chief, but he challenged Republicans to stop covering for him and to just come right out and denounce his candidacy.
“What does this say about your party that this is your standard-bearer?” the president asked of GOP leaders. “This isn’t a situation where you have an episodic gaffe. This is daily and weekly where they are distancing themselves from statements he’s making. There has to be a point at which you say, ‘This is not somebody I can support for president of the United States, even if he purports to be a member of my party.’ “
Mr. Obama’s words were earnest, but also political. By challenging Republicans to withdraw their support of Trump, he made it completely impossible for them to actually do so, for fear of appearing to be his puppet. So, he wisely painted them into the perpetual corner of having to apologize for and distance themselves from Trump’s words and deeds, while at the same time appearing to eagerly support him for president.
Well played, Mr. President!
