Afro Latinos Discuss Dual Racism Experience

Spread The Love

African-Americans are used to centuries of racism.  Latinos are also extremely accustomed to racism.  But, what about Afro-Latinos?

Racism
They’re known as Afro-Latino and they have a strong African heritage that was mixed with Latino culture when slave ships landed in Latin-American locales.  They are African, but they are also Dominican, or Puerto Rican, or of some other Latino heritage.  They are not one or the other.  So, it is this cultural combination that has them experiencing racism from all sides of their ethnic ancestry.

Wow! Very informative video. We need more of it. More TRUTH about Ourselves (Black-American and Afro-Latino communities) and the racism that still goes on within Our communities. It’s a discussion that is well worth having and long overdue

Thanks for keeping it real DJ.

…and TGIF!

I’m Afro-Latino so this story really hits home with me. I was just having some of these conversations with my family on Thanksgiving.
