The air quality alert issued to residents of the northeastern United States remains in effect.

The smoke from more than 400 roaring wildfires in Canada has been pushed into the US via a strong wind system. Residents were warned to stay indoors as much as possible, avoid exerting themselves too much, and to seek medical help if they feel shortness of breath or any life-threatening symptoms.
