Al Smith Dinner Temporarily
Calms Clinton, Trump
The annual Alfred E. Smith Dinner was held Thursday night at New York City’s prestigious Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

More formally known as the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner, the event is in honor of former New York Governor Al Smith, the first Catholic presidential candidate. Historically, the dinner is an annual white tie fundraiser for Catholic charities supporting needy children. It is also traditionally hosted by the archbishop of New York and features chances at the mic for the Democratic and Republican nominee for president to poke humorous fun at each other.
Although Republican nominee Donald Trump was booed during the event for taking jabs at Hillary Clinton that were a bit less humorous, after a crazy week of angry debates, charges of a rigged election, and Trump’s claims that he may or may not accept the November 8th election results, the country sure needed a moment of levity.
Here are the best highlights of the evening.
THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY!
