Alabama Prisoners On COVID19: ‘Death Is Imminent!’
Alabama prisoners have issued a nationwide plea: “HELP! Death is imminent for us.”

While many states across the country have released low-risk prisoners in order to avoid overcrowding of jails amid the COVID-19 crisis, Alabama has refused to do the same.
Earlier this month, OK WASSUP! reported on the destruction the coronavirus could wreak on certain populations, including prisons. Now, that story is playing out in real time.
In a gut-wrenching video, prisoners in Alabama state prisons are pleading for help so that their lives may be spared from COVID-19. Without the ability to social-distance and stay 6 feet apart and without regular cleanings or soap and hand sanitizer made readily available, prisoners are sitting ducks for the deadly disease.
Instead of following the lead of other states and releasing older and immuno-compromised prisoners, Alabama officials opted to order hundreds of body bags as their solution to the problem.

(Sigh!) I agree DJ, the video is “gut-wrenching.” And I’m sorry to admit that my better half had told me about this video a few weeks ago but I Failed to follow-up right away to view it for myself and it got pushed to the back of my mind. Suffice it to say that an overwhelming majority of County jails and State prisons are natural breeding grounds for all manner of pestilence and especially for viruses that are easily contracted like the Coronavirus. My heart goes out to the incarcerated men and women whose lives are clearly at risk. And the inmate is also absolutely right in warning Us (the general public) that the risk to PUBLIC health reaches FAR BEYOND the walls of jails and prisons thru prison personnel who unknowingly carry the virus to-and-from those correctional institutions.
