AND SO IT BEGINS…

"Judicial Activism" is much too complex in its application to allow the term to be trashed/misused and MISrepresented by the GOP and their right-wing media cohorts an longer. I'm thinking: Desegregation; Equal Rights; Civil Rights movement; Abortion Rights…etc. But back to Judge Sotomayor: Based on the majority of her rulings, it's clear that she's NOT a "radical leftist" or "racist"; both charges smack of desperation and FEAR on the part of the GOP and "friends." The President made a fine_if not brilliant_choice in picking her!And since the GOP appears to be on a Suicide mission, I say PLEASE let them keep on bad-mouthing her, while MILLIONS of Hispanic-Americans watch and listen_smh.THIS is what becomes of a major political party when it's ruled by a bunch of ignorant-azz "Know-Nothings" and extremists.A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
Umm_I believe my statement went as follows:"The President made a fine_if not brilliant_choice in picking her!"No mention of Judge Sotomayor being "fine" or "brilliant". But therein lies the biggest problem with "haters" and extremists". It matters NOT which political party they identify with OR their socio-economic background. Their INABILITY to engage in an Open, Honest and Intelligent discussion on darn near ANY topic, and in a Civil manner is quite glaring! It really IS painfully Obvious that aside from YELLING insults, name-calling, bullying, twisting the Truth and ignoring the facts_they've got NOT much more to offer. Pretty sad_smh.

I've become a bit spoiled to this site_lol.I’ll readily admit that until Pres. “O” picked e Sotomayor, (triggering the GOP's predictably BOGUS outcry of “Judicial Activism”) I had NO clue as to what IS the precise meaning of the term?! Seemed to me, as often as it’s used in political debates, it’s just as often NOT clearly defined by detractors or defenders. Thank goodness for advances in information technology and the ability to do research from the comfort of one's home! Bradley C. Canon identified 6 dimensions by which judges or courts may be perceived as activist: 1. Majoritarianism- takes into account the degree to which policies adopted through the democratic process are judicially overturned.2. Interpretive stability- takes into account the degree to which court decisions alter earlier decisions, doctrines, or constitutional interpretations.3. Interpretive fidelity- takes into account the degree to which… Read more »
