AND THE WINNER IS…
Last night, AMERICAN IDOL crowned its 10th season champion. And the winner is… WHO CARES!?!
Quick, name the winner of AI from last season? Hurry! How about the season before that? Or what about the season before that? Point is, AI hasn’t produced a star from its “winner” in ages. In fact, the few who became legitimate “stars” from being on AI did not win.
AI is a marketing genius in building dramatic tension for who ends up as the eventual winner. But then they turn the voting process over to a bunch of bored 13-year-olds who have nothing better to do than text or call in votes for 3 hours, garnering millions of votes, but reducing the show to more of a popularity contest than a valid talent competition.
Taylor Hicks won AI several seasons ago, but where is he now? Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry didn’t win AI, but look at where they are now!
Oh yeah, pencils down. To answer the earlier questions: Lee DeWyze (who?) won AI last season. Chris Allen won the season before that, while David Cook won the season before that.
Last night, Scott McCreery won AI. But how long will it be before he joins the AI winner’s circle of obscurity, while others who didn’t win soar to bigger and better things?
I stopped watching this crap years ago. Its the same ole thing and I agree the winner doesn't even matter. I happen to catch the last five minutes last night tho in time to see them start giving the winner a trophy now. Too bad that might be all he ends up with.BTW I came by here early this morning but no new articles were up until late. Was there some glich again?
