ANOTHER ‘TRAYVON’ STYLE FLORIDA MURDER

Spread The Love

Here we go again!

Last Friday, 17-year-old Jordan Russell Davis and a group of friends were sitting inside a SUV outside of a Jacksonville, FL convenience store enjoying some music. Michael David Dunn, a 45-year-old vice president of Dunn and Dunn Data Systems in Vero Beach, who was visiting Jacksonville to attend his son’s wedding, pulled up next to the vehicle and yelled that the music was too loud.

The adult and teen exchanged words, but then the unthinkable happened: Dunn, a registered gun owner and collector, pulled out a firearm and emptied 8 or 9 rounds of ammunition into Davis’s vehicle, striking the teen twice as he sat in the back seat.  Jordan Russell Davis died on the spot and in the arms of a friend.

Since Jordan’s unnecessary murder, Michael David Dunn was arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder. He entered a not-guilty plea deal, claiming that he felt “threatened” by the teen, despite Jordan being unarmed and outside of striking distance.  Dunn’s lawyer claims that his client acted responsibly and in self-defense, although they will be hard pressed to prove that theory after shooting 9 rounds at an unarmed minor who never left his vehicle.

Jordan Russell Davis was a bright kid with a bright future, excelling at the Jacksonville magnet school Samuel W. Wolfson High School. Just how many more Trayvon Martin’s have to die at the hands of ordinary citizens who misuse guns and take matters into their own hands?

Wake up, America.  Rest in Peace, young Jordan!
