Steve Wiles is a ultra-conservative right winger who has been outspoken in support of the state’s ban on same-sex marriage. However, what Steve Wiles never told his anti-gay conservative cronies is that he was a drag queen/female impersonator at a Winston-Salem gay club only a few short years ago.
From 2002 to 2010, Wiles donned stockings, high heels, evening gowns and wigs to direct and emcee a weekly drag show at Club Odyssey. According to the club’s former owner, Randy Duggins, Wiles was such a club favorite at the weekly drag soirée, that he was asked to star as the show’s emcee — a role he coveted while adopting the stage name “Miss Mona Sinclair.”
Wiles/”Miss Sinclair,” was also a promoter for the 2011 Miss Gay America pageant, but was dismissed for “conduct unbecoming to” the organization, according to his former employer.

Initially, Wiles emphatically denied any connection to the gay nightclub, but when photo and video proof was uncovered, he/she was caught. Wiles reluctantly admitted to his drag queen past at the now-defunct bar, but later tried to save face by saying that the role “just was not something that I wanted to continue.”
When voters asked the anti-gay spokesman if he was gay, Wiles responded, “ I really won’t make any comments on that.” Oh, really??
