APPLE COMING TO GRAND CENTRAL

Spread The Love

If you’re a fanboy or fangirl of Apple and you live in New York City, you’re in for a real treat.

Fresh off approval from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority board, Apple has announced it will begin construction on a flagship store inside New York’s iconic Grand Central Terminal, with hopes of opening the store prior to the 2011 holiday season.

Despite several stores spread throughout Manhattan, including the prestigious Fifth Ave. store with the distinctive glass enclosure, Apple just can’t seem to keep up with the enormous public demand and popularity of its products.  The Fifth Ave. store is open 24 hours, yet it is often overcrowded both day and night with current customers in need of a service appointment, or curiosity seekers who just want to play on an iPad.

Once completed, the new Grand Central Terminal store will be a massive 23,000 square-foot Apple playground, which is roughly 3,000 square feet larger than the company’s existing flagships. The Apple Store will be housed in 2 adjacent Grand Central balconies, which were formally home to the Metrazur restaurant.

Construction is expected to begin immediately and should take approximately 4 months to complete.
