Are Whites The New Minority?
For centuries, Asians, Hispanics and African-Americans have been considered “minorities” in America — but new data suggests all of that is about to change.

According to the U.S Census Bureau, new census data shows that whites will be the new “minority” in the U.S. by the year 2043.
“These new census estimates are an early signal alerting us to the impending decline in the white population that will characterize most of the 21st century,” William Frey, a demographer with the Brookings Institution said.
The figures show that 49.9% of children under the age of 5 are members of minorities.
This means that “today’s racial and ethnic minorities will no longer be dependent on older whites for their economic well-being,” Frey said. Instead, the nation will likely be reliant on “younger minorities and immigrants for our future demographic and economic growth.”

The new figures are very telling. Hispanics are currently the nation’s 2nd largest ethnic group, making up 17% of the total population. Native Hawaiians and Other Pacific Islanders have climbed 2.2% to about 1.4 million, American Indians and Alaska Natives have risen 1.5% to a little over 6.3 million, and African-Americans have increased 1.3% to 44.5 million.
With 80% of today’s deaths being among white baby boomers, the tables are certainly turning. This will have a certain racial, geographical and political impact on the nation moving forward.
