The Democratically-controlled US House of Representatives has now formally drafted Articles of Impeachment against Donald J. Trump.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, House Financial Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters, and others appeared in a Tuesday press conference to unveil 2 Articles of Impeachment against Trump: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

“Today, in service to our duty to the Constitution and to our country, the House Committee on the Judiciary is introducing two articles of impeachment, charging the President of the United States Donald J. Trump with committing high crimes and misdemeanors,” Nadler said.

The Articles of Impeachment began by saying:

“Donald J. Trump has abused the powers of the Presidency, in that: Using the powers of his high office, President Trump solicited the interference of a foreign government, Ukraine, in the 2020 United States presidential election. Wherefore President Trump, by such conduct, has demonstrated that he will remain a threat to national security and the Constitution if allowed to remain in office, has acted in a manner grossly incompatible with self-governance and the rule of law.”

“To Impeach a President who has proven through results, including producing perhaps the strongest economy in our country’s history, to have one of the most successful presidencies ever, and most importantly, who has done NOTHING wrong, is sheer Political Madness!” – Donald J. Trump

Political analysts are already applauding Democrats for not only proceeding with formal Articles of Impeachment, but for limiting the articles to only 2 and avoiding any inclusion of the Mueller Report.

“The argument ‘why don’t you just wait’ amounts to this: why don’t you just let him cheat in one more election?” Schiff said during the formal announcement. “Despite everything we have uncovered, the President’s misconduct continues to this day, unapologetically and right now.”

As expected, an angry Donald Trump immediately took to Twitter right on cue with a multitude of tweets denouncing his impending impeachment.

“Nadler just said that I “pressured Ukraine to interfere in our 20202 Election.” Ridiculous, and he knows that is not true. Both the President & Foreign Minister of Ukraine said, many times, that there “WAS NO PRESSURE.” Nadler and the Dems know this, but refuse to acknowledge!,” Trump tweeted.

“Shifty Schiff, a totally corrupt politician, made up a horrible and fraudulent statement, read it to Congress, and said those words came from me. He got caught, was very embarrassed, yet nothing happened to him for committing this fraud. He’ll eventually have to answer for this!,” Trump added.

The full House of Representatives will now vote on the 2 Articles of Impeachment as soon as next week.  With Democrats in complete control of the House, the vote is a mere formality and will pass without fail.  Or, in other words, the impeachment of Donald J. Trump is all but a done deal.

In light of the Democrat’s announcement, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Tuesday he will schedule a Senate trial and eventual impeachment vote for mid-January of 2020.  Although he will be impeached, Trump’s removal from office is all but expected to fail once it reaches the GOP-led US Senate.

As I had expressed in a previous response on a related post, I was becoming concerned that had the Dems dragged this thing out (and included too many charges) they would’ve overplayed their hand and risked a huge backlash from the majority of the American people.

I’m glad to see that thus far the Dems are handling this whole process in a just and intelligent manner.

Yes. The Repub-led Senate with vote to save Trump but that is on them. The Dems must do what is right because it is right. History will record, that when it truly mattered, which party stood up for the Constitution AND the Rule of Law. And which party chose to abandon both, in their willful obedience to a pathological lying and absolutely corrupt president.

This is what I’ve been saying all along. History will record who was on the side of right and who was on the side of putting their party above the country.

‘The Case For Impeachment Is Overwhelming’ Excerpt: The central question at the heart of this matter has always been whether we will tolerate the president corruptly using the powers of his office for personal benefit. The president’s defenders have answered loudly that they will tolerate corruption of the presidency. If we have any respect left for the Constitution and the rule of law, it is imperative that the president is not allowed to escape without facing serious consequences for his abuses. This is important not only to hold the current president in check, but it is also necessary to warn future presidents that such corruption will not be permitted to flourish. Members of the House have been given a simple test of their fidelity to the Constitution. Are they enablers of presidential abuse of power and corruption, or will they do what their oaths of office require of them and… Read more »

Applause to Nancy Pelosi. She played this exactly right. By not rushing impeachment when a whole lot of Dems were pressuring it turned out to be a wise move. Also keeping the impeachment simple down to two points is genius. Now just like Truth said history is going to record who did what is right. The Repubs are about to shoot themselves in the foot on how they vote and Pelosi knows it. This is going to be real interesting to watch.

‘Republicans consider skipping witnesses in Trump impeachment trial’

Excerpt:
Senate Republicans are weighing a speedy impeachment trial that could include no witnesses for President Trump’s legal team or for House Democrats.

The White House has indicated publicly that it has a wish list of potential witnesses, including House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Hunter Biden and the whistle blower who sparked the impeachment inquiry.

But Republican senators, including Trump allies and members of leadership, appear reluctant to drag themselves through a drawn-out trial with messy procedural votes when the outcome appears pre-baked. […] – The Hill, 12-11-19.

I’m sure Mitch and his Repub crew in the Senate would rather have to deal with Any other crisis than having to deal with any part of this particular impeachment trial that’ll soon be underway.

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell are both looking ahead to the Senate impeachment trial, but there is a growing divide between the two over what that trial should look like, CNN has learned. In conversations with the White House, the Kentucky Republican has made clear he hopes to end the trial as soon as he can, an effort to both get impeachment off his lap and protect his conference from potentially damaging votes should the process break out into partisan warfare. That will include a continuous whip count until McConnell feels he has the votes to acquit the President and end the show. He has even floated a 10-day minimum during these talks, one person said. But the show is exactly what Trump wants. He’s made clear to advisers privately that rather than end the trial as quickly as possible, he is hoping for a… Read more »
