We have a large Asian community here in San Diego and they are understandably in fear. I may not know what it’s like to live in their shoes but I certainly stand in solidarity with them.

That is SO true Saleem. But as you also correctly point out, when it comes to racists, their target(s) does NOT actually have to be Chinese, their target(s) need only “look the part.”

Ignorance mixed with racial-Hatred can lead to all kinds of really really BAD, if not deadly, results.

Asians are not monolithic, but they are frequently grouped together as Chinese. That's where most of the hate is coming from. 45 blew the dog whistle about the China virus and his dogs went hunting against anybody with Chinese features. It didn't matter if they were Chinese or not, they only had to look the part. That's why an elderly hispanic man got attacked for appearing Asian. Just another example of white supremacy in all its glory.

I was so heated when that cop said he must have been having a bad day. That is the problem. When it is one of us they have their knee on our neck. But when it is one of them they say he is a good guy who just had a bad day.
