Back To School Or Else, Says Trump
Donald Trump has issued a shocking ultimatum to the American education system:Â go back to school in the fall or else lose funding.
Politics
Yes, in the midst of the ongoing coronavirus global pandemic that shut down schools and universities throughout the US months ago, Trump wants American students back to school despite the fact that the virus is surging and at risk of becoming more deadly than before. His reasoning? Trump is hell-bent on pushing the narrative that everything is back to normal in the hopes that it will salvage his floundering re-election hopes.
However, Trump’s back to school tweet was not a suggestion. It was an order that came with a cost: reopen the schools or else forego federal funding.
“We’re very much going to put pressure on governors and everybody else to open the schools. We want our schools open in the fall,” Trump tweeted.
.
In Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and many other countries, SCHOOLS ARE OPEN WITH NO PROBLEMS. The Dems think it would be bad for them politically if U.S. schools open before the November Election, but is important for the children & families. May cut off funding if not open!

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos also weighed in and pushed for in-person classes, stating there is “no excuse for schools not to reopen again.”
However, Dr. Anthony Fauci warned against “false complacency” regarding any push for schools to reopen too soon.
Thankfully, Trump’s threat is nothing more than a bunch of hot air.
According to CNN, Trump can’t unilaterally cut current federal funding for schools. He can only restrict some recent pandemic relief funding — which would likely be challenged in court — and he can refuse to sign future legislation for federal grants and bailouts for schools.
Congress and not Trump controls the power of the purse. Additionally, Congress has oversight power when it comes to federal grants.
“Congress provides federal education funding to support some of the most vulnerable young people in our country,” said Evan Hollander, a spokesman for the Democrats on the House Appropriations Committee. “The President has no authority to cut off funding for these students, and threatening to do so to prop up his flailing campaign is offensive.”
In an attempt to help the ill-informed Trump save face, Mike Pence stepped in to provide clarity.
Pence claimed that Trump’s tweet represented a “determination to provide the kind of leadership from the federal level that says we’re going to get our kids back to school because that’s where they belong, and we know based upon what our best health officials tell us we can do that in a safe and responsible way.”
Yeah, right.
Earlier this week, Trump threatened to deport any international students who would only participate in online courses and would not physically attend in-person classes.
At this point, it’s clear that every move and every decision Donald Trump makes is personally driven and nothing more than an attempt to save him politically.
“At this point, it’s clear that every move and every decision Donald Trump makes is personally driven and nothing more than an attempt to save”….Himself.
And given that he’s a corrupt, pathological lying Narcissists with borderline intellectual functioning and other-related disorders and deficiencies, we know to expect nothing else from Donald.
