Bernie Sanders on Wednesday announced he will continue his campaign for president after disappointing losses in slate of state primaries, vowing to participate in a debate this weekend with Joe Biden.

Sanders then challenged Biden to prove that he can offer those voters solutions to a host of key policy questions during a televised debate on Sunday in Phoenix, where the two candidates are set to face off one-on-one for the first time. Sanders and his aides have long wanted a one-on-one debate with Biden, believing that such an event could change the dynamics of the race. [….]- Politico, Mar. 11, 2020

BD you know that I’m no fan of Bernie Sanders. And I never agreed with the DNC allowing him to run under the Democratic Party banner. He’s not a Democrat. Full stop. And frankly, I expect him to drag this things out awhile longer. But we’ll see if he’s going to get “nasty” about it.

I have to say, I don’t think he’s going to go the “nasty” route. But we will see how he plans to use his leverage. He does have about 30% of solid support.

Some of his supporters, on the other hand? Now that’s another story. The truth is, some of Bernie’s supporters are just as bad, if not worse, than Trump’s hard-core supporters.

But I just heard things are about to get nasty with Bernie Sanders. He is claiming Dems rigged the election in Michigan with long lines to keep him from winning. Plus some of his supporters are still bullying Biden online. I swear sometimes Bernie and his people are just as bad as Trump’s.

Yes, it appears his chances are over but the party can’t appear to be forcing him out. Make him feel part of the process and give him time to decide what he decides in his own time.

The picture is so much clearer to me now, beginning with what I think is obvious:

1. The *Caucus* process of electing our presidential nominee should be done away with…Now. Going forward, all states should implement the *Primary* process for elections.

2. Iowa and New Hampshire should NOT be the first states to kick off the Dem primaries. Those states do not represent the make-up of the Dem electorate.

3. Based on the collapse of support among voters for Bernie, it’s now clear to me that a huge chunk of the votes he received in 2016 (vs Hillary) were protests votes Against Hillary; Not actual support for Bernie. When it’s Bernie vs Biden, support for Bernie decreases significantly even among his young supporters and blue-collar working-class whites with no degree (including white men).
