Beto O’Rourke Explains NFL Anthem Kneeling
In case you’re unfamiliar with the name Beto O’Rourke, it’s high time you learned who he is.
Current Events
Beto O’Rourke is a Democrat currently running as a candidate for US Senate from Texas. He is challenging incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz and, interestingly, is in a virtual tie with Cruz to possibly win the seat.
During a recent town hall meeting in Texas, a voter tried to trip Beto O’Rourke up by asking him if he thought NFL players kneeling during The National Anthem was disrespectful. His response was a gem of an answer that has since gone viral.
.
No, I don’t think it’s disrespectful.”
While the audience burst into spontaneous applause, the 45-year-old Beto O’Rourke continued: “Peaceful, nonviolent protests, including taking a knee at a football game to point out that black men, unarmed, black teenagers, unarmed, and black children, unarmed, are being killed at a frightening level right now, including by members of law enforcement, without accountability, and without justice.
“And this problem — as grave as it is — is not going to fix itself, and they’re frustrated, frankly, with people like me and those in positions of public trust and power, who have been unable to resolve this or bring justice for what has been done and to stop it from continuing to happen in this country,” O’Rourke said.
.
Most Texans stand for the flag, but Hollywood liberals are so excited that Beto is siding with NFL players protesting the national anthem that Kevin Bacon just retweeted it. That means all of us us can now win Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon! https://t.co/8oWpL1AuyF

He then added: “And so nonviolently, peacefully, while the eyes of this country are watching these games, they take a knee to bring our attention and our focus to this problem to ensure that we fix it. That is why they are doing it. And I can think of nothing more American than to peacefully stand up, or take a knee, for your rights, anytime, anywhere, in any place.”
The video of his eloquent response became so popular on social media, that television host Ellen DeGeneres invited him to appear on her talk show.
Now we know who Beto O’Rourke really is, what he’s all about, and why he just might possibly send Ted Cruz into an unplanned retirement from the US Senate.

Now we know who Beto O’Rourke really is, what he’s all about, and why he just might possibly send Ted Cruz into an unplanned retirement from the US Senate. […] Yes indeed. And thanks for sharing this DJ. I saw the video of his response on the day he gave it at the townhall. My initial thought was “Wow! He really hit it OUT the park with that answer.” Then I did a quick research of the guy (I’d heard very little about him prior to that) and that’s when I become aware of the possible threat he poses to Cruz keeping that Senate seat. Texas is home to my *significant other.* She resides about 40 minutes outside Dallas but was raised in inner-city Dallas. She says the buzz about Beto is real in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metro areas. Beating Cruz is an uphill climb but not impossible. But Beto… Read more »
