Biden Presidential Eve Filled With Pure Emotion
The inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris is finally here. However, yesterday’s Biden presidential-eve was filled with a sea of sincerity and raw emotion.
Current Events
Tuesday, January 19th began with a tearful thank you and farewell remarks from the Biden’s to their beloved home state of Delaware. At the mature age of 78, Joe Biden was almost assuredly considering if leaving his personal home and friends behind to become the 46th President of the United States might be his last time.
“It’s kind of emotional for me. It’s deeply personal to me that our journey to Washington starts here,” Mr. Biden said, his voice cracking.
“Excuse the emotion, but when I die, Delaware will be written on my heart. And the hearts of all. We love you all. You’ve been there for us in the good and the bad. You never walked away. And I am proud, proud, proud to be a son of Delaware,” he added, with tears streaming down his face.
“And I am even more proud to be standing here doing this from the Major Beau Biden facility,” he continued while openly crying. “Ladies and gentlemen, I only have one regret. He’s not here. Because, we should be introducing him as president.”
Following his brief remarks, Mr. and Mrs. Biden walked throughout the crowd to personally connect with longtime friends. They then boarded a rented private jet (Donald Trump refused to provide a military jet as is standard courtesy for the incoming commander-in-chief) and they headed for Washington, DC.
Upon landing at Joint Andrews Base, the president-elect continued to celebrate the Biden presidential-eve with a very special tribute.
During their very first stop in Washington, Joe and Jill Biden were joined by Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff for a somber ceremony at the Lincoln Memorial. The Biden-Harris couples stood in silence and watched as 400 lights were illuminated along the edges of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, marking the more than 400,000 Americans who have died from COVID-19.
“Though we may be physically separated, we, the American people, are united in spirit and my abiding hope, my abiding prayer, is that we emerge from this ordeal with a new wisdom: to cherish simple moments, to imagine new possibilities and to open our hearts just a little bit more to one another,” Ms. Harris said.
“It’s hard sometimes to remember, but that’s how we heal. It’s important to do that as a nation,” Mr. Biden said.
Their recognition of the hundreds of thousands of American lives lost due to COVID was in stark contrast to Mr. Biden’s predecessor.
Because the pandemic and Trump-induced MAGA threats/violence will prevent the traditionally large crowds from filling the Washington mall to attend the inauguration, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have successfully turned the Biden presidential-eve and ensuing events into an occasion we won’t soon forget.
Using the bible of the first African-American Supreme Court justice of the United States, Thurgood Marshall, Kamala Harris will be sworn-in by the nation’s first Latina Supreme Court justice, Sonia Sotomayor, to become the first Black/South Asian/female Vice-President of the United States. Ms. Harris will then swear-in the first African-American senator from Georgia, Raphael Warnock, as well as the first Jewish senator from Georgia, Jon Ossoff. She will then swear-in the first Hispanic senator from California — her replacement, Alex Padilla.

I couldn’t agree with you more DJ. I watched the ceremony at the Lincoln Memorial and indeed it was very touching, very moving and very much, so Joe Biden.
All politics aside, Joe Biden is a good man who wears his caring and compassion for “Others” on his sleeve. And I pray he is Successful in his genuine efforts to bring (most of) the country together in Unity as WE move forward together.
