Biden Succession Plan And Kamala Harris
President Joe Biden is adamant and says he is NOT quitting the 2020 presidential election. However, despite his words, a secret Biden Succession Plan is still in the works.
Politics :
After a horrific debate performance against Donald Trump last month; multiple ‘episodes’ (before and after the debate) that have called into question his mental health; news of a Parkinson’s physician visiting The White House at least 11 times over the past year; information that a group of titan financiers (including BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, former Treasury secretary Robert Rubin, President and COO of BlackStone Jon Gray, Lazard CEO Peter Orszag, PayPal CEO William “Bill” Harris, cofounder of Centerview Partners Blair Effron, and former UBS executive Robert Wolf) believe it is “inevitable” that Mr. Biden will have to step aside; as well as the news that Mr. Biden is now trailing Donald Trump by 6+ percentage points — nationally and in several must-win states — Democrats are quietly considering a Biden succession plan.
According to CNBC, top Democratic donors have already cut Mr. Biden off.
“No one is picking up the phone,” said a well-connected Democratic fundraiser, who has regularly raised money for Biden and the Democratic Party.
President Biden has been defiant against efforts to replace him. On Friday, he told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that he’d only quit the race if “the Lord Almighty came down” and commanded him. On Monday, Mr. Biden sent a letter to returning members of Congress, alerting them that any efforts to replace him would be met with force. Also on Monday, the president called into MSNBC’s Morning Joe show as well as several Black radio stations with the message “I am not going anywhere.”
Still, those efforts didn’t deter concerned Democrats who believe the president is experiencing some form of dementia or age-related crisis — and that a Biden Succession Plan is necessary to win the election and prevent Donald Trump from becoming an emperor.
So, who would/could replace Mr. Biden if he is either convinced or forced to step aside? Let’s take a look at 2 plans nicknamed “The Contest” and “The Coronation” that are bouncing around Washington.
THE CONTEST
According to an idea loosely floated by Democratic elder statesman, Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina, Democrats could hold a “mini primary” in case President Biden chooses to step down.
“You can actually fashion the process that’s already in place to make it a mini-primary, and I would support that absolutely,” Rep. Clyburn said during a recent interview on CNN. “We can’t close that down, and we should open up everything for the general election. I think that Kamala Harris would acquit herself very well in that kind of a process, but then it would be fair to everybody.”
Among those Democrats who might throw their hat into a mini-primary are Gov. Gavin Newsom of California, Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, Gov. Wes Moore of Maryland, and Gov. J.B. Pritzker of Illinois. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan was also on the list of prospects but removed herself from contention on Monday.
THE CORONATION
Perhaps the easiest Biden Succession Plan is the most obvious: Vice-President Kamala Harris.
She is his 2nd in command. She has been in the room on every policy decision for the administration. She is well-known and respected by world leaders. She is Black and a woman (which would give Donald Trump fits in trying to attack her without alienating Black and female voters). And, because her name is already on the ticket, she is the only candidate who could legally assume Biden’s $240 million war chest.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll published last week showed Ms. Harris trailing Trump by only 1 percentage point at 42% to 43%. That’s well within the poll’s 3.5 percentage point margin of error and 5 points better than the president.
If Mr. Biden is somehow convinced that he can not win and doesn’t have the backing of the party, Democratic operatives have suggested that he not only resign from the election but from the presidency. President Harris and her new vice-president would then have 3-4 months to use the bully pulpit of the presidency and the trappings of The White House to their advantage to take down Donald Trump.
“Biden’s campaign has amassed 3,894 delegates after state primaries, leaving only a few dozen ‘uncommitted’ delegates outstanding. All of the delegates are not just Joe Biden delegates, they are Kamala Harris delegates,” Democratic strategist Michael Trujillo said. “She will have a sizable delegation and support in all 50 states on day one.”
According to Axios, Donald Trump strongly prefers to run against Joe Biden and is grossly underprepared for how he would take on 59-year-old Kamala Harris. His advisers are concerned that a fresh, youthful, non-Biden ticket presents a bigger threat to Trump than he expected. They’re also concerned that with Trump announcing a running mate this week and the GOP convention starting next week, Democrats could completely upend Trump’s campaign strategy with a surprise ticket.
With so many donors and prominent Democrats coming forward expressing a desire to move beyond President Biden, is it possible they know something the general public doesn’t? Could it be that Mr. Biden’s health has deteriorated more than his aides have let on? Is it true that a loss by the president could also create a domino effect of losses in the US House and Senate?
Is President Biden still kryptonite against Donald Trump — or is talk of a Biden Succession Plan both timely and necessary?
OK WASSUP! discusses Politics:
Democrats continue with Biden Succession Plan.
DJ said something interesting. Maybe more is going on behind the scene that we do not know. Because a whole lot of Dems are pushing for Biden to go all a sudden. If he is six points behind Trump that is disturbing also.
