Tuesday night’s Biden vs Trump debate at the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland was perhaps best described by CNN political analyst Dana Bash: “It was a ‘shit show.'”

If you’ve ever watched the chaotic and unpredictable Running of the Bulls event in Spain, multiply that by 100 and you’ll have the Biden vs Trump debate from Tuesday night. To say this debate was a hot mess would be an understatement. It was indeed a ‘shit show’ — and we can mostly thank Donald Trump for providing the hour and a half of non-stop antics that turned most viewers off.
From the moment the Biden vs Trump debate began, Donald Trump made it crystal clear he had ZERO interest in following the rules and honoring the time restraints HIS own team agreed to follow. Instead, Trump began the debate on 10, sweating and angry, being a bully, and interrupting Joe Biden at every turn. In fact, Trump’s constant interruptions became such an issue that moderator Chris Wallace was forced to say “Mr. President, JUST STOP!” The surprise scolding prompted Trump to respond: “I guess I’m debating you, not Joe.”
Donald Trump ridiculed Joe Biden for always wearing a mask under all circumstances. He even ‘sang’ his greatest hit: “I’m doing an EXCEPTIONAL job” on the COVID crisis. However, what were the highlights of the evening?

HIGHLIGHTS
Since Donald Trump spent the entire 90-minute debate shouting and being personally rude toward Joe Biden, it’s difficult to pinpoint any interesting one-liners from him. Perhaps one came when Trump attacked Biden for not being smart and attempted to diminish where he went to school, saying “Don’t ever use the word ‘smart’ with me.”
However, Joe Biden was able to sneak in several lines of interest.
“We handed him a booming economy. He blew it!” Biden said of Trump’s failed economy.
“We are weaker, sicker, poorer, more violent, more divided” as a nation, Biden told Trump because of his failed leadership.
“It is what it is because you are who you are,” Biden said to Trump regarding his failed response to the COVID pandemic.
“He said he didn’t want to panic the people. Instead, HE panicked,” Biden said of Trump’s claims that he downplayed the virus purposely to protect people from panicking.
“You should get out of your bunker and off your golf course and do now what is needed to save lives,” Biden chided Trump regarding his COVID response.
“You’re the worst president America has ever had!”
“Will you shut up, man?” Joe Biden told Trump for his repetitive interruptions. It was hands down the line of the night.

LOW-LIGHTS
THE most disturbing moment of the night by far came when moderator Chris Wallace asked Trump if he would denounce white supremacy and encourage his racist supporters to not engage in violence should he lose the election.
In a repulsive response, Trump refused to directly denounce white supremacy but instead said he would tell the Proud Boys and other divisive white supremacist groups to “Stand back and stand by.”
HUH???
Yes, Donald Trump threw away his dog-whistle and used a bullhorn to tell his white supremacist supporters to “stand by” with violence and any other tactics to ruin democracy should he lose the election.
The Anti-Defamation League immediately denounced Trump’s statement as race-baiting.
CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said in a tweet that the president’s answer was “astonishing,” while adding “President Trump owes America an apology or an explanation…Now!”
The Proud Boys white supremacist group immediately seized on Trump’s words and made it their online slogan.
Proud Boys organizer Joe Biggs posted after the debate that he was “standing by” and added that he got the message loud and clear that Donald Trump “basically said to go f— them up.”
“President Trump told the Proud Boys to stand by because someone needs to deal with ANTIFA… well sir! we’re ready!!” Biggs wrote.

A CNN political panel unilaterally admonished Trump for his choice of words, calling it a win for foreign adversaries and white supremacists who’ve long wanted to see division in America.
“MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!” is almost certainly what they’re celebrating today, the CNN panel added.

In conclusion, the Biden vs Trump debate turned out to be an avalanche of lying from ‘The Donald’ and an event that did not move the needle one iota with voters to cast their ballots for Trump. In fact, an instant SSRS poll taken immediately after the debate concluded that Joe Biden won the night 60% to 28%. However, the truth is not that Biden won the debate. It’s that Trump LOST the debate.
Donald Trump was rude, didn’t follow the rules, and lacked the decorum and decency voters expect from a president. Additionally, moderator Chris Wallace lost complete control of the night and was instantly chided by fellow journalists for waiting a full 1 hour and 13 minutes to call Trump on not following the rules.
As a fix, the next debate moderator should be given a mute button to turn off the microphone of anyone being disruptive and not allowing the other candidate to speak (this means YOU, Trump). He should also insist that unless the rules are followed, he will walk off the stage and end the debate.
The next debate will take place Wednesday, October 7th at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and will be between Kamala Harris and VP Mike Pence.
As for the next Biden vs Trump debate, it will be a Town Hall format and will be staged on Thursday, October 15th at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami. However, the fireworks could continue when Biden and Trump meet for their final debate on Thursday, October 22nd at Belmont University in Nashville.
(Sigh…inhale). Okay….(exhale). I have a few thoughts on this but first let me say…. Thank you DJ for this post. Most of the people in my world (family members, friends, even my boss and coworkers) watched that “sh*tshow” last night. Several people called me during, and after the “sh*tshow.” To say they were distraught and angry would be an understatement. I allowed each person to vent for about a minute before I gently ended each call. Suffice it to say I did not watch any of it because I already knew what to expect.- and I told my people that days ago. The fact that it turned out just as I’d expected was of no surprise to me. Trump’s whole so-called “presidency” has been nothing but a veritable “Sh*tshow” since Day #1 and WE, right here on this site, have been calling it just that since almost day #1. What… Read more »
