BD, you guys are educating me because I honestly didn’t know what the protocol is when you get a parking ticket while actually on the scene.

I’ve never gotten any kind of ticket at all so I really didn’t know if a cop has the right to ask me for my license, if I’m on the scene when he/she gives me a parking ticket.

In reply to Truthiz1. Truth Amazon checks all that in advance. They would not send a driver out with no license. Cops need to learn how to handle these low level situations without it getting out of control.

Why are they asking him for his license? Any other car parked wrong on the street would just get a ticket like Saleem said. The driver probably would not even be in the car. What happened is the cops over reacted as usual. They were mad he told them to F off and they let emotion control them. That is the problem with most cops today. Same with the one in Georgia. He got mad because he got beat and the guy was getting away. There is no reason to have this kid on the ground in handcuffs over the way he was parked. It sends out the wrong message and looks like a power trip.

Notwithstanding the fact that the cop’s overreaction was due in large part to racism…

I am curious to know if the young man had a valid driver’s license at the time of the incident? If so…why didn’t he just comply with the request and show it?

On the other hand, if he didn’t have a license how is it that he’s employed as a delivery driver for Amazon?

This is further proof every police officer in America needs to be retrained. There’s no reason on earth this should have been nothing more than a parking ticket.
