Black Gun Rights Groups Are Legally Armed!
It’s the worst nightmare of the NRA and racist White Americans. Don’t look now, but Black gun-rights groups are becoming LEGALLY armed!
Current Events
For decades, the National Rifle Association has been pushing for certain rights and laws, including the right for every American to bear arms, the right to open-carry guns in public, weakened background checks to purchase a firearm, the right to purchase and own military-style assault weapons, and more. However, these rights and laws were created with WHITE America in mind.
Now, various BLACK gun-rights groups have started taking advantage of the laws that were never intended to be accessible to African-Americans, and suddenly, all hell is breaking loose. Or, in other words, the NRA and its conservative (read: racist) members are going bonkers!
Philip Smith, president of the National African-American Gun Owners’ Association, said his organization’s annual membership has increased by much as 2,000 new members per day — a figure he used to only see annually. His organization has grown to more than 30,000 members this year and has an online following of nearly 90,000.
Derrick Morgan, national commander of the Black Gun Owners Association, said interest in his group grew so quickly that his website crashed from a surge in online traffic.
“A lot of people are reaching out to us, mainly new gun owners and people who wouldn’t have considered owning a gun or firearm for their protection, have been lining up to purchase firearms and access information from our website.”
Another of the Black gun-rights groups named NFAC (an acronym for the “Not F*cking Around Coalition”) has been protesting throughout the streets of Louisville, KY against the no-knock shooting death of Breonna Taylor.
In Georgia, an open carry state, at least 150 African-American NFAC members asserted their 2nd Amendment Right to bear arms by dressing in black and arming themselves with semi-automatic rifles to march through Stone Mountain Park to protest its depiction of Confederate generals.
A similar march organized by black gun owners took place in Oklahoma City in June as a protest against the Donald Trump rally in nearby Tulsa.
In fact, Black gun-rights groups have been popping up all over the country in 2020 in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the death of George Floyd, months of Black Lives Matter protests, increased racial division, and the presence of Donald Trump and his racist MAGA movement.
After years of the privilege to open-carry guns for their own beloved causes or just for funsies, conservative White Americans are suddenly expressing issues with so many Black people carrying guns out in the open and, not surprisingly, they are calling for law and order.
In response, Donald Trump recently referred to the Black gun rights movement as a “hate group.” His comment came after he defended a white St. Louis couple who was captured on video pointing guns at Black protesters who were merely marching. Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler of Georgia described a handful of Black protesters carrying guns in public as “mob rule.”
“It’s my constitutional freaking right,” said Kat Traylor, a political strategist and licensed gun owner based in Aurora, Colorado.
“The days are over of African Americans sitting around singing Kumbaya and hoping and praying that somebody will come and save them. We’re gonna save ourselves,” Smith said.
.
Once upon a time, the Black Panthers roamed the streets of America openly carrying guns and rifles — and the laws were quickly changed to prevent their display of firepower. When White Americans wanted to enjoy that privilege, the laws were changed to appease them. Now that Black Americans are legally taking advantage of the gun laws again, a certain segment of society is demanding a stop to all of these dangerous Black men on the streets with (legal) guns.
Can you spell DOUBLE STANDARD??
My familiarity with guns (of any kind) is minimal. My comfort level…..Zero. Most of my family members are not into guns. But I come from a hunting state. In fact PA is ranked in the Top 10 of “Most Hunter-Friendly States” in the U.S.” And my favorite grandfather (my maternal granddad) was a small-game hunter. But he kept his hunting rifle well hidden, out of sight and securely locked up. Personally, I’ve been afraid of guns all my life thanks to my mom who was absolutely terrified of guns. She definitely did not allow any gun anywhere in our home…NOT with the overly rambunctious little brother I had. NO. And honestly, the racial make-up of the group that’s carrying doesn’t matter to me. I don’t want anything to do with any of those groups. Period. Full Stop. They scare me to death. (Side note): A few months ago one of… Read more »
