Border Wall Or Else ‘I Shut Down Government’
Donald Trump is on a rampage and proved as much by throwing a temper-tantrum on Tuesday inside the Oval Office. According to Trump, give him his Mexico border wall or else he will gladly “shut down the government!”
Politics
The wild outburst by ‘The Donald’ occurred during a very public shouting match between Trump, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-New York, and presumptive House Speaker-in-waiting Nancy Pelosi — and all the alleged “fake news” media were present to capture every syllable.
Surprisingly, Trump remains hell-bent on building his $5 billion dollar border wall along portions of the US/Mexico border in order to keep out all the “undesirables” (read: brown people). This is surprising for a number of reasons.
Firstly, the wall will not (and can not) stretch the entire length of the southern border. Anyone wanting inside the US could simply go around the proposed wall at a myriad of gap points where a wall would not exist (mountainous regions, lakes or other water sources where a wall can’t exist, Native American property and other private lands). So, it’s surprising Trump either doesn’t recognize or simply refuses to recognize that a border wall with huge gaps along its length is ineffective.
Secondly, Trump has forever bragged that not only would his border wall get built, but Mexico was going to pay for it. Although the Mexican government laughed at his threats from the very beginning, Trump has yet to explain why he needs $5 billion dollars from American taxpayers for a wall he is on record as promising Mexico was supposedly going to pay for.
So, already in a mood from the Mueller investigation and the lack of anyone wanting to become his 3rd chief of staff, ‘The Donald’ engaged in a shouting-match with Democrats over his beloved border wall amid threats to shut down the entire US government unless he gets his way.
.
SCHUMER: “One thing that I think we can agree on is we shouldn’t shut down the government over a dispute, and you want to shut it down.”
.
TRUMP: “The last time, Chuck, you shut it down, and then you opened it up very quickly. I don’t want to do what you did.”
.
SCHUMER: “Twenty times you have called for, ‘I will shut down the government if I don’t get my wall.’ None of us have said it.”
.
TRUMP: “You want to know something? … I’ll take it. You know what I’ll say? Yes, if we don’t get what we want one way or the other, whether it’s through you, through military, through anything you want to call, I will shut down the government.”
.
SCHUMER: “We disagree.”
.
TRUMP: “And I am proud … I tell you what, I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck, because the people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into our country. So, I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down. I’m not going to blame you for it. The last time you shut it down it didn’t work. I will take the mantle of shutting down and I’m going to shut it down for border security.”
.
What’s evident is how deliciously easy Schumer and Pelosi got under his skin. What’s even more evident is the trap they set for Trump that he willingly walked directly into.
“It’s like a manhood thing for him. As if manhood could ever be associated with him. This wall thing. I was trying to be the mom. I can’t explain it to you. It was so wild. It goes to show you: You get into a tickle contest with a skunk, you get tinkle all over you.” – Nancy Pelosi to the House Steering and Policy Committee

History has proven that Americans hate a government shutdown. Postal delays or stoppages. Government workers instantly without an income. The men and women of the US military suddenly without a paycheck to support their families. Whenever such an event has occurred in the past, the public has made the perpetrator and his party pay for their transgression. Now, Donald Trump has publicly admitted that if the government does shut down, HE is the perpetrator. HE will gladly accept responsibility. Give him HIS way or else HE will single-handedly make life miserable for everyday Americans by shutting down the US government — right before Christmas.
Oh, the trap couldn’t have been better if Schumer and Pelosi had laid a red carpet and added runway lights directing Trump to it.
To recap, Trump is willing to shut down the government over a $5 billion dollar border wall that:
1.) Only he and his base appear interested in.
2.) He vowed would be paid for by Mexico but he now needs the American people to pay for.
3.) Will be a multi-billion dollar waste of money since it won’t work.

The only thing possibly worse than Trump’s Tuesday temper-tantrum is how VP Mike Pence sat robotically motionless and watched the entire exchange between his man-child boss and Democrats… and never uttered a single syllable!
