Boston Marathon Bomber Sentenced To Death
On Friday, a jury sentenced Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to the death penalty, bringing a sense of closure and relief to the many victims and families who were torn apart by the bombing. The jury’s verdict marked the first time in the post-9/11 era that federal prosecutors were able to win the death penalty in a terrorism case. The jury deliberated for more than 14 hours over 3 days before reaching its decision. When his sentence was read, there was no visible reaction from Tsarnaev.
Survivors and family members expressed a range of emotions following the verdict. “My heart is with our entire survivor community. I am thrilled with the verdict!” tweeted AdrianneHaslet-Davis, a ballroom dancer who lost part of her leg. “Ultimately justice has prevailed today,” said firefighter Michael Ward, who treated many of the victims on that day. “He’s going to go to hell. That’s where he wanted to go, but he’s going to get there quicker than he thought.”
Tsarnaev will likely be sent to federal death row in Terre Haute, Indiana. According to CNN Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin a years-long appeal process to save Tsarnaev’s life is expected, but “the overwhelming likelihood is that he will die.”
Is the death penalty the right decision in this case, or should Tsarnaev be forced to live a pitiful and restricted life for the rest of his days? Is sentencing a man to death a barbaric and outdated judgment for crimes? What are your thoughts on the jury’s decision and the death penalty? Tell us in your comments below and in our poll.

He's a young kid that got caught up following his older brother, now his life is over regardless. I don't really believe in using the death penalty, but the tax payers would be paying a lot to keep him alive for like seventy more years. This might be one of the times to use it.
