UPDATE: The bombing suspects have been identified as brothers, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev. Both men are originally from Chechnya, but came to the U.S. as boys. The older brother, Tamerlan, was killed last night and 19-year-old Dzhokhar is still on the run.
A wild night in Boston last night left one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects dead and the other one running on the loose.
Yesterday, police issued survelliance photos of 2 men who were in the marathon area carrying backpacks and assumed to be the bombers. Shortly thereafter, the FBI was flooded with phone calls and tips of who and where the men might be.
Late last night, authorities descended on the Cambridge area of Boston, where a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) police officer had been shot and killed. A carjacking led police on a high speed chase through the Watertown area, where police engaged in a gunfight. Explosives were tossed at police from the speeding car and Suspect #1 (wearing the black hat) was killed in the gunfire. Suspect #2 (wearing the white hat) was last seen at a local 7-11 wearing a gray hoodie and is still at large.
Boston Police and the FBI have warned local residents to stay inside their homes and not to open their doors for anyone until further notice. Police have cordoned off the area of the shoot out and will be going door to door today in a thousand-officer manhunt to apprehend the remaining suspect.

I've been checking the news at intervals (at home between appts) and thus far MSNBC is reporting that these brothers immigrated to this country (as kids) from Chechnya (a Republic of Russia) in 2002 or 2003, along with their parents. If this info is true(?) they've been here at least a decade.
