Breaking News: OSAMA BIN LADEN IS DEAD!

Spread The Love

Today, thousands of family members of those killed on 9/11 heard the words they have been waiting a decade to hear — Osama Bin Laden is dead!

In a late night news conference last night, President Obama announced that on his watch and at his direction, the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks was captured and killed by U.S. military forces, effectively avenging the deaths of thousands in the World Trade Center attacks of 2001. Upon hearing the news, Americans gathered at the gates of the White House and at the site of Ground Zero in New York City, waving American flags, singing the national anthem and celebrating the news of Bin Laden’s demise.

According to President Obama, he received intelligence reports in August of 2010 that Bin Laden was holed up in a mansion inside Pakistan. At his direction, the CIA moved forward with confirming Bin Laden himself was inside the compound, and a plan was swiftly drawn up to capture or kill him. Although a million things could have gone wrong in such a dangerous mission, President Obama recognized the small window of opportunity and gave the green light over the weekend to proceed.

Bin Laden was reportedly shot in the head during a gun battle, and the U.S. military was able to collect the body and conduct DNA testing to confirm it was indeed the most wanted man in the world. Bin Laden was immediately buried at sea so as to prevent a burial site where followers could turn him into a martyr. Sources said the burial at sea was conducted respectfully and well within the traditions of the Muslim faith.

Although Bin Laden was the brains behind the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil in history, there are several Al Qaida leaders already prepared to carry on in his absence. The death of Bin Laden is an enormous victory for the Obama White House, as it was something the Bush administration was unable to accomplish and could seal an Obama reelection in 2012. But it is by no means an end to the hatred and distrust of America within certain regions. Throughout the world, Americans are being forewarned to be vigilant, particularly in major cities, as a retaliation against the United States in some capacity is now widely expected.

 1. Went to bed early last night and woke up late for work today. Just got here and just now heard the news. Damn Obama is badass. He did was Geroge Bush couldn't do. This should shut Trump and everybody else up. We can skip the election next year cuz Obama just gave himself four more years.

 2. Like BD, I too stayed up late last night but I somehow managed to get up on time 😉 !First: I commend the men and of our Armed Forces who put their lives on the line, for this country, every day. I commend the Intelligence community for a job well done. And I commend the Commander-and-Chief for NOT taking his eye off the ball and for speaheading a very decisive, well-thought-out, and efficient operation. Second: I'm trying HARD to NOT think about all that was lost (wasted Time, Blood/Lives, Treasure) as a direct result of an utterly diabolical HOAX perpetrated on the American people FOR YEARS by the Bush/Cheney administration regarding the UNjustified invasion of Iraq…so I'll refrain from going there except to say that, as a nation, *WE* can never get back what those 2 men and their neoCON masters have cost Us. Lord only knows how many more years_if not decades_we'll still be paying a price(?) Is retaliation of some sort likely? Yes. To what degree? We shall see. But nothing will change the fact that THIS is a major blow to al-Qaeda's mission, in more ways than one, beginning with the recognition that THIS President, aided by the Intelligence community and the Armed Forces did in TWO years what Bush and Cheney couldn't_OR WOULDN'T_do in SEVEN.

 3. Quote of the DayAndrew Sullivan:It's going to be extremely hard for the far right to Carterize Obama now. He's instantly the un-Carter, reversing the botched operation of so many years ago as America faced some of its first sparks in the war against Islamist Jihadism. And the steadiness under pressure, well, let's just say: The cat is cool. The poker face of the man has for the last few weeks been pretty damn impressive. Just because he's calm doesn't mean he isn't lethal. And imagine what must have been going through his mind as he was getting closer and closer to this just as Donald Trump was doing performance art with a birth certificate. […]*Haters* will continue to hate the President because they've got nothing but Hate to cling to. And though they won't admit it out loud, many _if not most_ of them NOW know in their heart-of-hearts that Obama is nobody's dummy. He is, in fact, a highly intelligent and quite formidable opponent. I have NOT always agreed with his policies, or the lack thereof (i.e., still waiting o that JOBS plan). But I've always appreciated the fact that the man is d*mn Serious about governing. At this point in time in history Obama is *The Man.*

 4. This is a great day for America and for the families who lost loved ones on that tragic September morning. Congratulations President Obama on a job well done.

 5. Very nice post Truthiz. I must give the president credit where credit is due.

 6. Thank You Beth! The truth is, You, being a fair-minded and intelligent person and giving the president his due "credit" on this, I would've expected no less from you.
