BUSH ‘WENT SOFT ON ME’
Dick Cheney has often been referred to as the REAL leader behind the ELECTED leader, former President George W. Bush. Many of the Bush administration’s biggest policies (or biggest failures) were seen as the brainchild of the former Vice-President and Cheney considered Bush a strong leader in giving him so much control in their White House. Now Cheney is going public with his views that he lost a great deal of influence with President Bush in the second term, saying that Bush “went soft on me” and “turned out to be more like an ordinary politician in the end.” Interesting!
`
Cheney’s disappointment with the former president became evident during one of several informal conversations he was holding to discuss his upcoming book with various diplomats, policy experts and former colleagues. Until now, Cheney had avoided criticizing his former political partner, but broke form when asked if he had any regrets. “In the second term, he felt Bush was moving away from him,” said a participant in the recent Cheney gathering. “He said Bush was shackled by the public reaction and the criticism he took. Bush was more malleable to that. The implication was that Bush had gone soft on him, or rather Bush had hardened against Cheney’s advice. He’d showed an independence that Cheney didn’t see coming. It was clear that Cheney’s doctrine was cast-iron strength at all times — never apologize, never explain — and Bush moved toward the conciliatory.”

Could it be possible that once Bush realized his presidential legacy would historically record a failed war in Iraq, a total economic collapse, an unbelievable national deficit, and growing disdain for America throughout the world — all at the hands of Dick Cheney — he finally decided to grow a set of testicles and stop letting Cheney run HIS White House? Hmmm…
