CAIN-TRAIN STALLS
The Cain-Train has derailed at the station.
It was a long time coming. But GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain suspended his campaign Saturday, effectively abandoning any hope of winning the Republican nomination. Instead, Cain pledged that he “would not go away,” while opening an Atlanta campaign office and announcing his “Plan B,” which is a continued promotion of his 9-9-9 tax plan and foreign policy ideas.
“As of today, with a lot of prayer and soul searching, I am suspending my presidential campaign,” the unapologetic and defiant Cain said with his wife by his side. He added that he was leaving “Because of the continued distractions, the continued hurt caused on me and my family, not because we are not fighters. Not because I’m not a fighter.”

The Herman Cain candidacy was a roller coaster ride of incredible highs and embarrassing lows. The former Godfather’s Pizza CEO and political novice was initially seen as a long shot for the nomination, but in an “Anybody but Romney” environment, turned his candidacy into a 10 day run as the leader of the GOP pack. But his fall from grace was inevitable, once allegations of womanizing and a 13 year extra-marital affair was brought to light. It also didn’t help when Cain was asked in a live interview a lightweight question about President Obama’s Libya policy, to which the unknowledgeable Cain stumbled uncomfortably, proving he was in way over his head.
And so the Herman Cain campaign comes to an end. But the truth is, it was never a genuine candidacy to begin with. Herman Cain never wanted to be president, which is why he never set up his campaign for a legitimate win. Cain wanted to sell books and raise his speaking fees on the lecture circuit, not govern inside the confines of the White House. But the game got a little too heated for Cain when the perils of politics began to take a toll by digging up tidbits from a sordid past. Once the stakes got too high, Cain realized it was time to fold his hand and run with the little dignity he had left. The political machine was out for blood — HIS!
So why did Herman Cain suspend his candidacy instead of just shut it down completely? Had Cain shut down all operations, he would have not been eligible by law to still collect campaign donations. Cain still has a massive campaign debt that he would be personally responsible for paying back without the help of more donations. Therefore, Cain will remain a “suspended” candidate on paper, still collect donations, still pay off his debts, then quietly drop out totally once the bills are paid. But his farce of a campaign is over.
What’s next for Herman Cain? Hello book sales and hello higher speaking fees!
First let me say…I can think of no better display of the absolute joke the Republican Party has become than the "Fall" of one Mr. Hermain Cain (arrogant, serial-adulterer and narcissist) coinciding with the *Rise* of one Mr. Newt Leroy Gingrich (arrogant, serial-adulterer and narcissist). Then you have Romney (the so-called GOP "inevitable front-runner") trying IN VAIN to duck and dodge his long history of "flips" and flops" on a dime, on darn near ANY issue…along with ducking and dodging media interviews…he's done only ONE in the past 2 years, I believe_it was last Tuesday on Fox Noise and it was by all accounts a "disasterous" perfromance. Okay. Concerning Cain's decision to quit the race… As I expressed on a related post over the weekend: MRS. Cain, via Mr. Cain, put an end to his fake presidential run. At no time during these many months of "campaigning" did Cain demonstrate he possessed the slightest ability to make good sound judgment in ANY way so there's NO reason to believe he would have pulled… Read more »
