If you’ve been counting your calories and watching your weight, then this story could be for you.
Health :
Did you know that every time you lick a stamp or an envelope, you’re consuming calories? Yeah, who knew?!?
In an interesting story from The Daily Dot, Chloe Williams (@chloewilliams3663) shared in a viral video how her caloric intake went up by more than 1,000 just from envelope and stamp glue. That’s just about the equivalent of eating a Burger King Triple Whopper or a specialty cheesecake at The Cheesecake Factory.
According to Williams, she’s been in the midst of wedding planning and recently sent out hundreds of save-the-date cards — complete with their own little envelope and stamp. However, what she didn’t realize is that envelopes and stamps commonly contain gum arabic, a fiber that is widely used to thicken and emulsify candies, ice creams, and sweets.
Or, in other words, her simple act of envelope licking was slowly packing on the pounds.
So, if you’re watching your calories, you may want to avoid licking the envelopes and stamps. Use a wet sponge, or just buy the self-adhesive versions for a healthier you.
THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY!
