Cancel Culture Catches Up To Trump, Republicans
Cancel culture has caught up to Donald Trump and multiple Republicans.
Current Events
On Wednesday, Trump was impeached yet again after lighting the fuse under his MAGA fanatics that led to last week’s domestic terror attack on Capitol Hill. Not only is his impeachment the 2nd of his 1st and only term and his 2nd in less than a year, but it has earned him the nefarious status of becoming the very first president in US history to ever receive dual impeachments.
The House of Representatives will now pass the impeachment over to the Senate, which could convict Trump once Democrats regain control of the upper chamber next week. If convicted, cancel culture would prevent ‘The Donald’ from ever holding federal office again. He’d also lose several presidential perks, including his pension and possibly his lifetime secret service detail.

The Trump impeachment was not the only line item on the cancel culture calendar this week as corporate America collectively had their say.
Facebook indefinitely suspended Trump’s account. Twitter permanently banned it altogether. Google, YouTube, and Microsoft also shut ‘The Donald’ down. They were soon followed by Snapchat, Twitch, and Reddit. Online payment platform Stripe announced it will no longer process donations for the Trump campaign website (effectively cutting his million-dollar donor pipeline), while Shopify shuttered 2 Trump online stores.
Lehigh University in Pennsylvania and Wagner College on Staten Island each stripped Trump of honorary degrees, while NY State decided to cut all business ties with Trump effective immediately.
Additionally, the P.G.A. of America said it will no longer hold the P.G.A. Championship at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, NJ, which was scheduled for May of 2022.
Regarding Trump flunkie Rudy Giuliani, The New York State Bar Association announced it has begun an inquiry to permanently disbar the former NYC mayor from practicing law.
“Mr. Giuliani’s words quite clearly were intended to encourage Trump supporters, unhappy with the election’s outcome, to take matters into their own hands,” the association said.
Also, Middlebury College in Vermont revoked an honorary doctor of laws degree it had previously given Giuliani, citing his role in “fomenting the violent uprising against our nation’s Capitol building.”
Cancel culture also hit several Republican congressmen hard, with corporate America sending a signal that it saw their involvement in the election brouhaha and Capitol Hill melee and were not impressed.
Hallmark Cards has asked Republican Sens. Josh Hawley of Missouri and Roger Marshall of Kansas — both of whom voted to overturn election results — to return all previous campaign contributions.
JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, and Bank of America announced they were suspending donations to GOP legislators via their PACs. Morgan Stanley suspended contributions to members of Congress who voted against certifying the results of the election. They were joined by Deutsche Bank and Signature Bank.
Visa, American Express, and Mastercard announced they will no longer give political contributions to Republican politicians who attempted to block certification of the election results.
“Last week’s attempts by some congressional members to subvert the presidential election results and disrupt the peaceful transition of power do not align with our American Express Blue Box values,” American Express CEO Stephen J. Squeri wrote in a memo to staff on Monday.
AT&T, Amazon, Comcast, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Ford, Best Buy, Walmart, Hilton, and Marriott International said they had already suspended or will soon end contributions to members of Congress who voted against the certification of the Electoral College. They were joined by Airbnb and Dow Chemicals.
UPS, General Motors, American Airlines, BP, ConocoPhillips, and The Coca-Cola Company said they will pause all GOP political donations. FedEx, CVS Heath, Delta, and Exxon Mobil announced they will review all future political contributions and decide how to proceed on a case by case basis.
And so, it looks as if karma wins again. Hopefully, the actions by Donald Trump and his GOP/MAGA sycophants in Congress were worth the “cancel culture” price they’re all paying today for going up against what is right.
Check and Mate!
Another great post DJ.
I’m pretty sure Trump, in particular, has absolutely NO idea as to just how much his life (his Entire world) is about to change and will Never be the same again. I would posit – when you consider his jacked up personality disorders (to say nothing of his mental disorders) ADDED to the fact that until now he’s always been able to do whatever the h*ll he wanted to whomever he wanted to w/o fear of ever having to be held accountable for his actions…AND the guy is 74 y/o and appears to be borderline intellectual functioning!?!
No. I honestly don’t think he’s capable of processing just what he’s done to himself even if he really tried to.
