CARL PALADINO THE HYPOCRITE?
After lambasting NY gubernatorial candidate Andrew Cuomo for taking his kids to a gay pride parade, Republican candidate Carl Paladino was quick to state that kids shouldn’t be “brainwashed” into thinking it’s okay to be gay or be taken to a “disgusting” gay pride parade. But according to recently uncovered records, he had no problem with gays when his son ran KOBALT, an upstate NY nightclub once dubbed Buffalo’s “gay club of the moment.”
According to a March 2005 review in the Buffalo News, KOBALT was described as “Way Gay,” noting, “The queens, the techno, the cocktails, the kind of gyration normally confined to Manhattan was in full flaming force at Cobalt.” It appears Paladino had no problem cashing rent checks from Cobalt as its landlord, nor from another gay club called BUDDIES II, both of which were located for years in buildings Paladino owned.
Paladino has since attempted to apologize for his statements against gays. But his record and history certainly speak for themselves.
