But after only a few short weeks in existence and a few billion dollars added just a few days ago to help bolster it, the program simply ran out of money. Another lesser discussed reason for the program ending is that consumers were using the program to trade in American made cars like the Ford Explorer for a more desirable foreign car like the Toyota Corolla. Guess that should be a wake up call to American car design teams.
