CBS CANCELS SHEEN SHOW
CBS has apparently had it up to here with the antics of actor Charlie Sheen.
Last last week, the network pulled the plug on Sheen’s popular sitcom “Two and a Half Men,” after the star blasted the network and the show’s creator for not allowing him back to work during yet another substance abuse binge. It is widely known in Hollywood that Sheen has been a repeat offender of alcohol and drugs, so no one took him seriously when he went on a self-designed and self-monitored “at home” rehab program that just didn’t work.
After a week of “rehab,” Sheen went to the CBS television lot and demanded the show take advantage of his temporary state of sobriety and film as many episodes as possible before he slipped back into a booze and drug stupor. But the network denied his request, explaining the show was simply too large and too expensive to flip filming on and off whenever the whim hit Sheen that he could make it through a day of work. But Sheen would hear none of it.
Sheen appeared on a radio program to berate those standing in the way of his wants. He used the airtime to say he “violently hated” (show creator Chuck) Lorre, labeling him a “turd” and a “p*ssy punk that I’d never want to be like,” then used an anti-Semetic term against him. He also promoted the idea that a crack habit is OK, so long as the user manages it well. That was enough for CBS.
Following the decision to shut down production of the television show, a defiant Charlie Sheen sent a text to ABC’s Good Morning America last Friday, insisting he’s 100% sober and has every intention of going back to filming as of next week no matter what anyone says. But, the network couldn’t disagree with him more.
“Tough luck,” said a source close to the production. “Even if Sheen shows up, there won’t be anything for him to do.” CBS has made it crystal clear they’ve shut down production for the rest of the season, and no one — Charlie Sheen included — will be getting paid or even allowed on the lot!
Legendary actor Martin Sheen, who is Charlie’s father, told the press he is saddened Charlie appears to be losing his battle with substance abuse. But the elder Sheen said he is praying for Charlie and asked all his fans to join him in “lifting him up in prayer.”
