Chris I totally agree with you. I said the same thing in my 2nd post

I’ve never understood why anyone would have kids if 1) you can’t afford to take care of them and/or 2) you never really wanted them in the first place.

iGens have grown up on a steady diet of modern technology. I would posit that in many, if not most, homes with kids, modern gadgets are used as kind of babysitter in place of parents spending quality time with their kids (replacing the television).

And adults shouldn’t fool themselves. Millions of Americans over age 35 are just as hooked on their iphones as iGens, including texting. Take their iphones away. They.Can’t.Function.

In general, we’ve become a dumbed-down nation.

A lot of parents use tech as their babysitter which is wrong.

This is indeed among the saddest of UNintended consequences of modern technology affecting America’s youth generation today (aka “iGen.”)

But I would also add – the LACK of good parenting is even more culpable. In fact, it’s at the top of my list with Failure at community and educational levels tied for 2nd.

“It take a village to raise a child.” And WE (adults) have been FAILING our children in a plethora of ways for far too long. And I’ve expressed this before – IMO much of what passes for “American culture” is just plain ol’ rotten stuff. Corrosive and down right destructive in every way.

Is it any wonder “iGens” are literally zoning out and falling further and further behind in so many areas of psychosocial and intellectual development.
