CHRIS BROWN BEGS FOR SUPPORT

Spread The Love

In the year since his 2009 assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna, the (former) Prince of Pop Chris Brown has resorted to desperate measures to stage what some industry insiders are calling a near improbable comeback.

The 20-year-old performer, who plead guilty to felony assault and is on probation for 5 years after attacking Rihanna prior to the 2009 Grammy Awards, has been vying for a way to revitalize his rapidly receding career.  With record sales at an all time low and a once thriving career now in extremely critical condition, Brown recorded an audio message last week on the celebrity website Say Now asking fans to “bring him back.”  Sounding humbled, Brown said he desperately needs his fans’ help.  “Some radio stations aren’t playing my records,” he said. “They’re not being that supportive and I wouldn’t expect them to. But it’s on the fans…It’s in your power to bring me back.”

Brown said he is doing everything he can do and referred to himself as a “better person,” but added that his career is in jeopardy.  “It won’t be possible for me to be an artist if I don’t have support from people who give me an artist outlet,” Brown said.  “I can’t be an underground mixtape artist.”

Brown said. "I can't be an underground mixtape artist."PULeeeze! As if Serious music-lovers (like Me) who listen to "underground" music written-produced and sang by some of the most INCREDIBLY talented Independent artists on the planet would waste a second of our life listening to music by Chris Brown even BEFORE the assault incident..??!I suspect what's happening with Brown's so-called "fan-base" speaks to the reality of "fan-base loyalty" for most mainstream "Corporate created" music perfromers. Fan loyalty is "weak" at best_and why wouldn't it be(?) given that "Corporate-created" performers are "a dime-a-dozen and can be found on any street corner."

DJ, I hope you don’t mind? I need to vent a moment about an issue related to the so-called "popularity" of Corporate created Black music artists who, NOT by chance, make up MOST of the “mainstream” Black music industry today.I just read the latest edition (the 4th edition) of Billboard’s annual music Money Makers, ranking the highest music earner$ for 2009 and was quite struck by the Top 40 list. Note: Of the FOUR Black artists who made the list NONE of them ranked in the Top Ten. #1 U2- $108 million PLUS#2 Bruce Springsteen- $57 million PLUS #3 Madonna- $47 million PLUS#4 AC/DC – 43 million PLUS#5 Britney Spears- $38 million PLUS …. #6 Pink- $36 million PLUS#7 Jonas Brothers – $33 million PLUS#8 Coldplay – $27 million PLUS#9 Kenny Chesney – $26 million PLUS#10 Metallica – $25 million PLUSBeyonce (who IMO sold out her talent long ago for… Read more »

Recorded music is about to become what videos were in the '80's: a promotional tool. You'll be able to buy it but that won't be how artists make their money. Live performance is the way to go. Except the record companies can't figure out a way to get in on the cut. Nobody buys music anymore and it's on the way out. Get used to the live shows

Sam:"Recorded music is about to become what videos were in the '80's: a promotional tool."I agree. Heck, it's already that, for the most part, in the Underground music world. In fact, so many "underground" artists offer a lot of incredible music FOR FREE, via the internet, that it's as if I've died and gone to music heaven_lol.And personally, I've alway had the Highest respect for artisit who_in addition to putting out great recorded music_also do LIVE shows providing proof of their level of talent! What corporate cretins have done to the "mainstream" Black music world is, IMO, a sin, a crime, and a disgrace_smh.May their days_and that of the Black talentLESS POSERS they create_be numbered!
