CHRISTINA FUMBLES SUPERBOWL ANTHEM

Spread The Love
Congratulations to the champion GREEN BAY PACKERS for winning Superbowl XLV!
It was an intense game that came down to the wire with a final score of 31-25.  But when you’re in a game with the best of the best, that’s exactly how it should be.

Needless to say, as with all Superbowl’s the actual game is only part of the night’s fun.  As usual, the commercials were lively and effective, with THE DAILY newsmagazine for iPad making it’s commercial television premiere. Other notable commercials included Eminem promoting Chrysler “Imported From Detroit,” as well musical ads from Justin Bieber, Ozzy Osbourne and P. Diddy.

The halftime show featuring the Blackeyed Peas with special guest Usher, was met with mixed reviews.  Some critics called it simply fantastic and ranked it as perhaps one of the best ever, while others called it a “been there, seen that” type performance. Call it what you will, but their cutting edge, upbeat and futuristic performance of a medley of their most memorable hits did not disappoint the attending crowd.

What was disappointing was the Star Spangled Banner, delivered by Christina Aguilera.  Not only did she fumble the lyrics on live television, but her over-the-top and seemingly hell-bent intention to “remake” our National Anthem with as many riffs and runs as possible, was seen by just about everyone as an utter fail.  Soon after she warbled out her last (and odd choice of a) note, Facebook and Twitter were all abuzz with critique of Christina’s scattered delivery.  And let’s just say the comments were not kind.
WHAT DID YOU THINK OF CHRISTINA’S NATIONAL ANTHEM?

I missed her performance last night so thanks for posting it!The truth is, I could ALMOST forgive her for flubbing a few of the words (and THAT was embarrassing enough). But combined with all the UNnessecary riffs and runs…the whole rendition was, as you said, "over-the-top" and just NOT good!

That was awful and embarrasing. Why do singers always try to out do the Star spangled banner? Why not just sing it like it was written. She'll never be able to live this one down.
