Not in any way knocking those who do use those online social networking services. Just saying I've never been a fan.

To be honest I've always felt that in the long-run social networking services such as Facebook and Twister (in particular) would probably end up causing more harm to Us -as individuals as well as a Society- than good.

Re: "Facebook Live"

As DJ correctly points out, this tragedy sadly isn't the first tragedy to play out in real time on "Facebook Live." there have been many other acts of senseless violence and abuses posted on that site. And there will no doubt be more.

DJ:
So, what is the point of Facebook Live? If it were only a platform to post cute videos of baby’s 1st birthday party or to broadcast a live marriage proposal to the world, it might make sense.

Instead, Facebook Live is quickly becoming a gruesome crime scene utilized by criminals looking for their 15 minutes of fame. […]

The truth is, I have no idea as to how to "get a grasp on social media offerings such as Facebook Live."

But I do know this. To do absolutely nothing to begin addressing this growing Crisis is insane. And I guarantee you that more and more really bad and twisted people will continue to use such sites to play out their horrific delusions and fantasies in real life, in real time, on real people.

Steve Stephens, the Cleveland murder suspect accused of posting video of the killing on Facebook, was found Tuesday in Erie County, Pennsylvania, state police said on Twitter.
"After a brief pursuit, Stephens shot and killed himself," Pennsylvania State Police said.

But if you're still there they are saying on CNN that they caught the guy but he killed himself. What a coward this guy is. First he kills a innocent man over some woman then he kills himself so he doesn't have to face responsibility. There is a special place in hell for him. As for Facebook they need to get rid of the live thing. I never tried it before but every time I hear something it's always bad on there. Anyway DJ glad you are safe.

As a journalist who recognized I was in the midst of breaking news, I clicked the link and watched until the end. As a human being with a heart and a soul, I instantly regretted that decision. […]

You're certainly not alone in regretting your decision to watch that video. My cousin's husband watched it and he immediately expressed to her his regret in having done so. He's usually a calm man. But seeing the life of an innocent elderly man brutally taken by the hands of a cold-blooded psychopath enraged him so that it took quite awhile for him to settle down a little.

I didn't watch the video. But I feel every bit as enraged and disturbed by this tragedy.

The fact that that animal is still on the lose should give us all pause. Unless he's killed himself, he's still out there somewhere and Lord only knows what evil still lurks in his tortured mind.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Godwin and his family. It sounds like he was genuinely a good man.

May he Rest. In Peace.

(in my 2nd response I will share my thoughts on social-media's role in these tragedies)
