CNN Town Hall Exposes Political Double Standard
A CNN Town Hall with Vice President Kamala Harris was designed to help undecided voters choose a candidate for president. Instead, it exposed a severe political double standard and potential misogyny.
Politics :
On Wednesday, Anderson Cooper hosted a CNN Town Hall with Kamala Harris. Initially, the event was supposed to be a CNN-hosted debate between Ms. Harris and Donald Trump. However, after the butt-whipping he took during the last debate, Trump pulled out of participating. The network then changed the format from a debate to a CNN Town Hall and invited both candidates to appear. Ms. Harris accepted the invitation whereas Donald Trump once again refused to participate.
Kamala Harris showed up to the live event and bravely answered questions from undecided voters in the audience. Donald Trump did not. Still, that didn’t stop the network from picking Ms. Harris and her responses and performance apart while completely ignoring Trump, his daily divisive nonsense, and his refusal to attend or answer to anyone.
For example, Ms. Harris began the evening by discussing a report from 4-star Gen. John Kelly (who served as Trump’s White House Chief of Staff) that Trump once said “I need the kind of generals that [Adolf] Hitler had.” She went on to discuss Trump’s vow to be a dictator “on day one” and threats to use the US military against the “enemy within” (meaning those American citizens Trump considers his personal enemies).
However, instead of latching onto the gravity of Trump’s words and growing threats, certain confused voters and television political analysts spent their time critiquing Kamala Harris and her “performance” during the CNN Town Hall as if it were a Broadway play.
“Harris is asked, in the final question, for her proudest moment in her political career. She mentions work for children as California’s attorney general, but doesn’t directly reference her time as vice president,” analyst Kevin Liptak said, as if giving her own genuine answer and not the answer he wanted or expected makes her a failure.
Kamala Harris spent more than an hour talking with Anderson Cooper and a few dozen voters. She discussed her plans for the economy, immigration and the border, price gouging, and the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. She shared personal stories about her faith and belief in God, how she prays multiple times per day, and how she dealt with grief after losing her mother to cancer. She even made it clear that if elected, her presidency would not be a continuation of the Biden presidency.
By contrast, Donald Trump has been extremely light on details about how he will make lives better for Americans if elected. For example, when asked to describe his health care plan if he succeeds in killing the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare), Trump said he has no specifics but only a “concept” of a plan.
When asked to describe his relationship with God, Trump refused to answer and only responded with a word salad that answered nothing.
“When somebody asks you what your relationship with God is, don’t go, ‘Well, evangelicals vote for me and say, ‘Sir, we pray for you.’ Not sure where in the Sermon on the Mount Jesus said that.”

When asked for details on how he intends to fix day-to-day lives for ordinary Americans, his go-to answer has usually been “We’ll get it done” without offering any real specifics.
Instead, Donald Trump has talked about using the power of the presidency to exact revenge and retribution against former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and others he considers enemies. He has discussed using new powers granted by the US Supreme Court to commit crimes under the guise of “official acts as the president.” He is prepared to cancel all legal cases against him and erase illegal acts he’s participated in over the years. He also wants to forget that the Capitol Insurrection of Jan. 6, 2021, ever happened.
With Trump’s clear threat to democracy and planned takeover of America as a Putin-like dictator, did political analysts actually ignore the fact that Vice President Harris honored her commitment to participate in the CNN Town Hall that Trump refused to attend? Did they spend wasted minutes debating how Kamala’s plans didn’t go into “enough” detail while ignoring that Trump’s invisible plans don’t provide ANY detail? Did they argue that Ms. Harris didn’t do enough to convince voters of the type of president she would be, but overlook that Trump doesn’t want to be president — he wants to be a ruler?
You better believe they did!
And that, my friends, is proof positive that, unlike Donald Trump, Kamala Harris is being held to a blatant and misogynistic double standard!

CNN Town Hall, Kamala Harris, and a missing Trump.
New York Times: Kamala Harris called Donald J. Trump a fascist on Wednesday evening, elevating what until recently had been an argument made only in the lower ranks of a Democratic Party that has spent years attacking him as anti-democratic, unfit to serve and a criminal. Early in a CNN town hall in Pennsylvania, she readily agreed with the host, Anderson Cooper, when he asked whether she believed Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist. “Yes, I do,” she quickly shot back. “Yes, I do.” Later, when asked about the plight of Palestinians in Gaza, she jumped into a loaded critique of her rival. “For many people who care about this issue, they also care about bringing down the price of groceries,” she said. “They also care about our democracy and not having a president of the United States who admires dictators and is a fascist.” Her comments —… Read more »
