CNN’s RICK SANCHEZ FIRED!
In a Thursday morning radio interview, he called Jon Stewart of “The Daily Show” a “bigot” and suggested that Jews who run CNN and “all the other” networks are just like him. By Friday afternoon — he was out of a job!
CNN fired its controversial daytime host Rick Sanchez after he made some “not-so-smart” remarks on the satellite radio show “Stand Up! With Pete Dominick.” Sanchez, who has been a frequent butt of jokes on “The Daily Show,” seemed to let loose months of built up resentment towards Stewart’s comedic pokes. “He’s upset that someone of my ilk is almost at his level,” Sanchez said during the interview. “He’s a bigot” toward “everybody else that’s not like him,” Sanchez complained, saying that Stewart was prejudiced against those who disagree with his “white liberal establishment point of view.”
Sanchez, who is Cuban-American, went on to say he believes racism has stunted his career, explaining how a CNN executive once compared him to John Quinones of ABC’s “Primetime” series. “In his mind, I can’t be an anchor,” Sanchez told Dominick. “An anchor is what you give to high-profile white guys. Deep down, when they look at a guy like me,” Sanchez continued, “they see a guy automatically who belongs in the second tier and not the top tier.”
“I’m telling you that everyone who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they, the people in this country who are Jewish, are an oppressed minority?” Sanchez said sarcastically, “I can’t see someone not getting a job these days because they’re Jewish.”
Well, that was enough for the CNN brass. Within a brief 20 minute interview, not only had Sanchez made questionable ethnic remarks regarding Jews, but he also publicly disrespected his employers. 24 hours later, CNN acted swiftly and released the controversial Sanchez from their employ.
"Did Rick Sanchez hand CNN the excuse they were looking for to get rid of him?"Short answer: Yes.But let's face it: Calliing OUT one's employer AIN'T smart if one wants to keep one's job. And not being able to handle Jon Stewart (an Equal Opportunity "mocker" who goes after anyone he deems fair game, including the President) was an OVER-reaction to say the least. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean his entire rant (meaning his rant against the media) is without SOME merit. He sounds like a man (perhaps an insecure man?) whose professional experiences have not been all that pleasant (real or imagined) and Stewart was the "straw that broke the camel's back" if you will. Rick's been holding stuff in and he used his beef with Stewart to GO OFF on the REAL object of his anger, Northeastern Jewish "Bigots." But he's got me curious: Just WHO are the dominant owners/controllers of most of the U.S. media? Are what region are most of those "elites" from? And IS the general attitude among most of… Read more »
