Larry Wilmore, who is likely best known as the Senior Black Correspondent on “The Daily Show” has been tapped to replace “The Colbert Report” with “The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore.”
“The Minority Report” (which is being created by Jon Stewart), will bring a bit more color and a much-needed minority voice to the late night scene and to the network. According to Comedy Central, the new show will be “a comedic look at news, current events and pop culture from unique perspectives not typically on display in late night television.”

Although Wilmore has never hosted or starred on camera in a show before, he has a strong list of writing and production credentials. He co-created the Bernie Mac Show and was also a consulting producer on NBC’s “The Office.” He’s also written for “In Living Color,” “The Jamie Foxx Show” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” starring Will Smith. Despite his comedy cred, Wilmore recently told The New York Times he wasn’t expecting to get a gig like this. “I really thought the window was closed… And usually there’s a certain age you have to be.” The 52-year-old Wilmore is 3 years older than Stephen Colbert and only 1 year older than Jon Stewart.

“The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore” will begin on Comedy Central at some point in 2015, whenever David Letterman decides to retire and Colbert is ushered into the new “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” show on CBS. Check out a clip of Wilmore below and tell us what you think about the upgrade to hosting his own show.
I think he will do a great job, he is really funny on the Colbert show. He's got a good face for it. Looking forward to it.
