Comey Sabotaging
The Presidential Election?
What in the hell is FBI Director James Comey doing?
Politics
By announcing that he found new information several weeks ago (but only announced over the weekend) that “may” or “may not” be relevant to the Hillary Clinton email investigation, Comey has thrown an unnecessary monkey-wrench into the 2016 presidential election. Not only has he provided NO factual information, but he has proven himself to be completely reckless and negligent of his duties only days before the selection of a new Commander-In-Chief. Now, a plethora of political officials have gone public to openly criticize James Comey, with some even calling for his immediate resignation.
Surprisingly, several former federal prosecutors and high-ranking Department of Justice officials, including former U.S. Attorney’s General Alberto Gonzales and Eric Holder, penned an open letter on Monday criticizing the FBI director in his handling of information regarding Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.
“Many of us have worked with Director Comey; all of us respect him. But his unprecedented decision to publicly comment on evidence in what may be an ongoing inquiry just eleven days before a presidential election leaves us both astonished and perplexed,” the letter said.
“We cannot recall a prior instance where a senior Justice Department official — Republican or Democrat— has, on the eve of a major election, issued a public statement where the mere disclosure of information may impact the election’s outcome, yet the official acknowledges the information to be examined may not be significant or new,” the letter continued. “Perhaps most troubling to us is the precedent set by this departure from the Department’s widely respected, non-partisan traditions.”
The letter was signed by nearly 100 former DOJ officials, who said they were “moved” to speak out publicly because Comey’s action not only violated “settled” DOJ tenets, but was inconsistent with prevailing department policy and broke with longstanding practices followed during previous elections. Justice Department officials have an extensive history of refraining from commenting publicly on pending investigations except in extreme circumstances of national security. According to former officials, they are expected to “exercise heightened restraint near the time of a primary or general election.” Oddly, Comey did not.

In addition to calls for Comey to resign, at least one senior senator believes charges should be brought against the FBI director.
On Sunday, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada said he believes the director may have violated the Hatch Act of 1939, which bars federal employees from using their position to actively engage in political activity. Comey may have broken that law if it is determined his actions have political implications.
Additionally, if Hillary Clinton actually goes on to win The White House, Comey would be smart to start looking for another job. At this juncture, his presence would be 100% unwelcome in a Hillary Clinton administration.
Everybody is coming out against Comey now. Yesterday I thought he could change the election but now I think a lot of people are ignoring this. Hillary can still win and that's really all I care about right now.
