CONGRESS RATINGS AT AN ALL-TIME LOW
Americans have collectively had it up to here with Congress and their political games and poor job performance. But a recent poll suggests the problem is so bad, congress’ rating is at a record low.
According to a recent Gallup Poll, the congressional approval rating is at a surprising 13%, which incidentally is about where it was when voters threw Democrats out of power in the U.S. House and narrowed the party’s majority in the U.S. Senate. The ratings drop is 5 percentage points since just July.
These numbers do not fare well at all for new members, particularly those of the Tea Party. They were swept into congress with the thought they would make a difference, but instead, they are now being seen as a huge part of the problem. With disapproval of Congress at 84%, Gallup representative Jeffery Jones says: “If Congress’ ratings do not improve much before the November 2012 elections, its membership could be in line for another shake-up.”
