First: They should have locked him up for the rest of his treasonous life and threw away the key.

And then the same should have been done to Every one of his Confederate military leaders, beginning with Robert E. Lee.

I think We’ve been heading in this direction since to Constitution was finalized (Sept 17, 1787) and ratified on Sept 18, 1787.

And I think the decision to NOT hold ALL of the Confederate leaders criminally responsible in a Court of Law immediately following the end of the Civil War – beginning with Confederate Pres. Jefferson Davis and his traitorous cohorts who led hundreds of thousands of young men to take up arms against their/Our own government was a HUGE error in judgment on Pres. Lincoln’s part.

It would have sent a resounding message to anyone in the future who dared to even consider carrying out such madness!

Hey thanks for this Wil. Conway is one of the few people that has been on Trump from the very beginning. How he stayed married to his ex wife while she was working for Trump I still do not understand.

If Trump loses there is no way he is going to accept it. He already proved that the last time around. We are definitely heading toward trouble. The only way to save things is if Trump goes to jail and cannot run. If that does not happen we are in for a lot of trouble next year.

The possibility of a second Trump term has created a “legal emergency” that threatens the Constitution, a group of conservative lawyers say.

Retired Judge J. Michael Luttig, attorney George Conway and former Representative Barbara Comstock are calling on their fellow conservative lawyers to fight the “threat” that former President Donald Trump would pose to the Constitution if he were to return to the White House.

In a New York Times op-ed titled, “The Trump Threat Is Growing. Lawyers Must Rise to Meet This Moment,” Luttig, Conway and Comstock, who are all prominent critics of Trump, expressed concern that Trump would fill his administration with people willing to circumvent existing laws and long-established legal norms if he were to be elected in 2024.

Trump, who remains the frontrunner in the Republican primaries, already has a blueprint to wield more power in the executive branch thanks to Project 2025, a handbook that lays out a swift transition plan for a new Republican administration to avoid the issues of the last administration, when even some of Trump’s appointees were unwilling to execute his agenda.

Luttig, Conway and Comstock pointed out in the Tuesday op-ed that Trump had already tried to implement “more draconian and often unlawful policies,” but that he had been “fortunately” thwarted by White House lawyers and judges, whom the lawyers praised.

“We are thankful that there were lawyers in the Trump administration who opted to resign or be fired rather than advance his flagrantly unconstitutional schemes. They should be lauded,” the op-ed said.

“But should Mr. Trump return to the White House, he will arrive with a coterie of lawyers and advisers who, like him, are determined not to be thwarted again,” the lawyers warned.
