Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Republicans are blaming Democrats after the $2 trillion dollar Coronavirus Relief Bill failed to pass in the US Senate. Here’s the REAL story of what’s really going on behind the scenes and why their claims are a bunch of BS!

The Coronavirus Relief Bill was designed to put cash directly into the hands of the American people while also helping to stimulate the economy. Granted, both issues are addressed in the bill. However, buried deep inside the legal language of the bill is a secretive clause that Democrats smartly caught and refused to support.
.
Found 100+ pages inside the Coronavirus Relief Bill was a Trump/GOP-mandated clause allowing for a $500 billion dollar, no strings attached slush fund, which would allow Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin to write a blank check to any business Donald Trump desires. What’s worse is that Mnuchin would not have to tell Congress or the American people which businesses he wrote checks to, how much the checks were for, or that he even wrote a check at all for up to SIX MONTHS! Further, for anyone to even get this information disclosed they would have to file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request just to learn the base details. Oh, and that FOIA request could then be denied by Trump under a claim of executive privilege.

On Monday evening, Trump MC’d his daily press conference to discuss the latest coronavirus updates. During that event, Trump shocked everyone by announcing that he’s strongly considering ignoring the pleas of his medical professionals by lifting the business shutdowns and social-distancing within a few days so that we can all get back to regular life in order to stimulate the economy. According to Trump, “Our country wasn’t meant to be shut down.” He then justified his own opinion by adding “The coronavirus cure cannot be worse than the problem itself.”
A reporter then asked ‘The Donald’ a very valid question: Why have a $2 trillion dollar relief package if you’re going to reopen the economy in a week?
The question was a good one, particularly since Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams said earlier in the day about the virus: “This week, it’s going to get bad,” then added that people MUST stay home in order to prevent the pandemic from worsening, which was in direct contradiction to what Donald Trump would say only a few hours later.
The fact that Trump couldn’t/wouldn’t really answer the question was all-telling.
Still, inquiring minds want to know why Donald Trump would press for a $2 trillion dollar Coronavirus Relief Bill that includes a secret $500 billion dollar business “slush fund” controlled by him, only to reopen all businesses and put an end to all quarantines — a move that his own medical professionals warn would put the public at grave risk and likely kill millions??
Well, here’s the answer. Like with anything, it’s all about what can best benefit Donald Trump!
Trump has realized that the coronavirus, a collapsed economy, and a tanked stock market is a death sentence for his reelection hopes. So, he and his cronies have concocted a way to fix conditions to benefit Trump and his rich donors.
.
The Coronavirus Relief Bill was not created because Trump actually cares about saving American lives from financial ruin. NO! The bill was created so that Trump could have a secret stash of $500 billion dollars to give any business he chooses, including Trump Hotels. Additionally, Trump could dangle this money to business leaders willing to do his bidding and/or donate to his reelection campaign. For example, Trump could tell a business executive that if they donate $5 million to his campaign, he would give them back $50 million in relief funds. Or, in other words, Trump would be giving $45 million in relief funds to a business while simultaneously pocketing $5 million for himself.
Under this scheme, Trump, who has already raised half a billion dollars for his 2020 campaign fund, would be able to use the current health crisis to his advantage in order to raise an unprecedented amount of cash for his reelection, not to mention his hotels.

The money we put into businesses should be for the workers and their communities – not for their executives. The McConnell plan is nothing more than a corporate bailout. pic.twitter.com/2ZqsU1rE93

As an extra incentive from Trump, businesses would be able to fire employees while also keeping all of the relief money they are given. Also, they would only have to wait 2 years before being funneling the funds to their executives for some hefty raises.
Remember, the slush fund would be able to operate in total secrecy for up to 6 months and would have virtually no restraints. It would all be controlled at the discretion of Steve Mnuchin — who would be taking his marching orders directly from Donald Trump himself.
Trump knows that if he takes the draconian steps his medical professionals are urging him to take, the economy will likely fall into a depression and his hopes of being reelected (and avoiding legal trials from the NY District Court and possible jail time) would be dead. However, if he lifts the business closures and ends social-distancing, we could see millions of deaths and the worst pandemic in American history.
What will he do? What’s in his own best interest, of course.
So, if you’re wondering why the Coronavirus Relief Bill was blocked and held up on Sunday and Monday, don’t blame the Democrats. In fact, you may want to cheer them. They took the time to actually read the bill and put an abrupt stop to the corruption inside of it that Trump and the Republicans were hoping to sneak by the public.
Stay woke, folks!
Great detailed summary DJ.! All of your points are spot-on and you last paragraph nailed it.

Yes indeed. The Dems really stepped up and did their job this time. This should mean that the final bill will actually include the necessary improvements.
We shall see.
