Is the COVID crisis over?
Top News Today
Last week, New York State joined California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington State in putting an end to mask mandates for businesses, restaurants, and other establishments (Florida and Texas dismissed masks 2 years ago). As of February 10, 2022, at least 88.5% of all Americans have been at least partially vaccinated. Additionally, noted epidemiologist Dr. Anthony Fauci has said he believes the ‘full-blown pandemic phase’ of COVID-19 is coming to an end.
Could it be that the COVID crisis is over, or at least nearly over?
With 66.4% of Americans fully vaccinated, a majority of Americans boosted, and many more with COVID immunity after having contracted and overcome the virus, it’s only natural to wonder why we’re all still wearing masks and taking extra precautions as if it were still March of 2020.
Additionally, since COVID will never go away and the world will never reach 0% cases, what are we all waiting for?
“I think we’re moving to a place where it will make complete sense to remove mask mandates,” said Justin Lessler, an epidemiologist at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. “Maybe we’ll be there in 2 to 3 weeks.”
Dr. Fauci also weighed in, saying “As we get out of the full-blown pandemic phase of COVID-19, which we are certainly heading out of, these decisions will increasingly be made on a local level rather than centrally decided or mandated. There will also be more people making their own decisions on how they want to deal with the virus.
“We are looking at a time when we have enough people vaccinated and enough people with protection from previous infection that the COVID restrictions will soon be a thing of the past,” Fauci added.
The message here is clear. At some point, the world has to get back to regular life. At some point, the world has to tolerate a certain amount of COVID illnesses and COVID deaths as acceptable. However, are we at that point just yet? And, if not, when will we be?
Is the COVID crisis already over?

Is the COVID crisis over?
This is a real good article and good questions. I know we have to go back to living regular life sometime. But it is going to be hard after all these years because we are used to doing things a certain way now. Every time I get on the El train and somebody has no mask on it bothers me. They say we can take them off again but they said that before. One day they are going to be right but it is still going to be hard to let go of some things and how we are thinking.
