COVID Deaths And The Trump Rallies
While we wait for ALL of the votes to be completely counted, let’s ponder an important question: How many COVID deaths are Donald Trump and his huge political rallies responsible for causing? The answer may surprise you.
Current Events
Thankfully, Donald Trump will hold no further campaign rallies for elected office. However, that doesn’t mean the damage isn’t already done and long-lasting.
According to a new study conducted by Stanford University, Trump’s non-socially distanced and mask-free campaign rallies held between June and September are responsible for 30,000 coronavirus infections and more than 700 COVID deaths. Economists examined the impact of 18 Trump rallies held between June 20th and September 30th by comparing the spread of the virus after each event to parts of the country that didn’t host rallies. The numbers and findings were astounding.
“The communities in which Trump rallies took place paid a high price in terms of disease and death,” B. Douglas Bernheim, the chair of Stanford’s economics department wrote. “There’s currently this very important debate going on about the costs and benefits of lockdowns, restrictions and so forth. It’s important that debate be informed by good information,” he continued.
Not surprisingly, The White House immediately went on the defensive by calling the study “flawed” and saying it was created and released just to shame Trump supporters.
“As the President has said, the cure cannot be worse than the disease and this country should be open-armed with best practices and freedom of choice to limit the spread of Covid-19,” spokesperson Judd Deere said.
“Americans have the right to gather under the First Amendment to hear from the President of the United States, and we take strong precautions for our campaign events,” Trump campaign spokesperson Courtney Parella added.
Donald Trump reached popularity by following the tried and true formula of targeting an enemy, then creating an “Us versus Them” gang mentality against said enemy. This time was no different.
Early on, Trump discounted the power of the coronavirus and led millions off a cliff to believe the virus was “no big deal.” He then created a divide between his supporters and scientific experts, oddly taking the position that masks and social distancing were both irrelevant and that he “knew better” than the so-called experts. Now, 700 COVID deaths later, that belief system didn’t end well.

Although Trump and his minions will never admit it, their mentality against COVID safety precautions was a deadly decision, since thousands of MAGA followers left Trump rallies and took COVID home to their communities with them.
And then, everybody paid a price.

Well….he won’t hold anymore campaign rallies because the campaign is over….and he has probably won re-election! (which I’ll speak on in a minute). But I think he’ll hold more rallies because he needs that to feed his ego…..especially now.
And based on last night’s election outcome, I don’t think the majority of Americans actually care about how many more Americans COVID will kill.
I went to bed late last night in total disbelief of what I’d just witnessed!
Man was I naive and SOOO wrong about My country (the majority of the American people), and most certainly about My state. Pennsylvania. Even if Biden somehow wins Pennsylvania, I live in a northeast RED state. That is the truth and it breaks my heart.
And the fact that Biden didn’t win the presidency decisively (IF he even wins it at all) speaks Volumes to me.
Correct on all points.
I also want to mention the colossal failure AGAIN of …(drum-roll) …Pollsters.
Why the heck does anybody still listen to them?! I could argue that American polling hasn’t been anything but mostly a scam..or JUNK-science..based on JUNK-methodology since at least 2008, if not going back further. That industry really is less than worthless.
And the American news media further discredits themselves peddling that JUNK.
Btw- Even Nate Silver got it wrong in his pre-election analysis.
Part of me is in disbelief about what is going on. Then another part of me is not surprised about the type country we live in. I apologize DJ for getting off topic about Covid but the election being this close says a lot about this country. America had a chance to put itself back on track and fix some things, but it did not. I am holding my breath like everybody else to see what happens but it did not have to be this way.
The fight isn’t over. It’s just beginning. Stay strong. Keep the faith.
