COVID19 Campaign Strategy For Joe Biden?

- How a coronavirus plan is Biden's best bet for a 2020 victory.

Spread The Love

Joe Biden became the presumptive Democratic nominee for president by winning the argument that he’s the best candidate to dethrone Donald Trump.  Now that he’s making the switch to the general election, Biden needs to adopt an aggressive COVID19 campaign strategy to seal the deal for a November win.

Politics
Impeachment, Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and other Trump sins are so yesterday.  Nobody is interested in those stories anymore.  Today, American voters have blinders on and are only concerned about surviving the coronavirus, getting back to work so they can pay their bills, and returning to a sense of normalcy by reopening the economy and ending the need for social distancing.  That’s it!

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows 55% of Americans disapprove of how Donald Trump is handling the coronavirus pandemic.  Additionally, a new CNN poll shows Biden leading Trump 53% to 42% nationally.

That’s why Joe Biden needs to pivot and create a COVID19 campaign strategy NOW in order to beat Donald Trump this November.

COVID19 Campaign Strategy

Throw away the concept of huge campaign rallies.  They won’t happen.  Forget about bus tours to visit local restaurants and shake hands with the town’s residents.  No can do.  No kissing babies.  No consoling hugs for a grieving widow.  It’s time for “out with the old and in with the new.”

Hey, Joe Biden:  here’s how you can win the presidency.  Here’s your (new) COVID19 campaign strategy:
.

1.)  Start using television commercials, online social media appearances (Facebook Live, etc.), and carefully selected news media interviews to pinpoint all the things Donald Trump is doing wrong in his response to the pandemic AND what you would do that would not only be different but better for the country.

.

2.)  Donald Trump stole the daily press briefings from Mike Pence, Dr. Fauci, and the pandemic response team and turned it into a free hour or more of a nationally broadcast campaign tool showing him “in control” as Commander-In-Chief.  Don’t allow him to seize the news cycle.  Launch a weekly Facebook Live briefing of your own (in the mode of Gov. Cuomo’s) that news programs can either carry live or via highlights during their daily broadcasts.  Discuss the presidential powers Trump could be using but isn’t.  Bring in your own health experts to validate your ideas and even replay responses from the Trump team’s Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx that directly conflict with incorrect information ‘The Donald’ has provided.

.

3.)  Start preparing now for a huge press event to announce your running mate.  Then schedule your pick to appear on every major news channel for at least a week.  That announcement and your VP’s appearances should be powerful enough to completely engulf the political news cycle for several days.

.

4.)  A week or 2 after announcing your vice-presidential pick, create another huge media event to announce your choices for several cabinet picks.  Tell America who your Treasury Secretary will be and how their expertise will successfully revive a failed economy post-COVID19.  Announce your Labor Secretary choice and show why this person has a plan for getting America back to work.  Introduce your Secretary of State selection and prove to America how this person’s experience will repair the bridges Donald Trump burned between the US and the international community.

.

5.)  Keep using Donald Trump’s own words against him.  Continue creating television commercials showing Trump telling America that the coronavirus was no big deal and a hoax.  Show how ‘The Donald’ and his buddies over at Fox News created an alternate reality that cost valuable response time to the pandemic and put countless American lives at risk.  Use Twitter and Facebook to bring attention to Trump’s previous, current, and future tweets and make a case of how unhinged, unprepared, and unpresidential he is now and would continue to be if given 4 more years.

COVID19 Campaign Strategy

If Joe Biden adopts this or a similar COVID19 campaign strategy, he won’t need in-person political rallies, door-to-door campaign stops, or any of the traditional trappings of a political era gone by.  THIS is our new normal and now is the time for Biden to make the adjustment in order to assure a resounding victory.

I can’t believe how late I am in responding to this! Working from home is throwing me off…Lol

BRAVO DJ!!! (standing up and applauding). Your entire post is On. Point. But especially your “(new) COVID19 campaign strategy.” I love it!

And frankly, I think Biden should hire YOU as his new COVID19 campaign strategist. 🙂

Mr.BD

Excellent suggestions. Trump has been using his press conference as a campaign rally sucking up all the attention. Joe has to come out and make his presence felt. I love Cuomo but he gets all the attention right now. Joe has to make a case he can do better and these ideas DJ posted seem the best so far to me. I really like the idea about announcing Labor Secretary and Treasury. That could sway a lot of people who need hope that something better is coming.

On a related note…..it appears “Trump country” (rural areas) may be in for a rude Awakening. ‘It Really Is the Perfect Storm’: Coronavirus Comes for Rural America Rural areas, sparsely populated though they are, are more vulnerable to coronavirus than you might think, says Carrie Henning-Smith, a professor of health policy at the University of Minnesota who studies rural communities. Many in the outsize rural elderly population depend on children and other family caregivers who must also work at jobs outside the home. Unlike city-based finance, software and media jobs that readily move online, rural jobs tend to be in industries, many of them designated “essential,” that require showing up and working at close quarters: agriculture, manufacturing, fishing, mining, retail, tourism and recreation. Even before Covid-19 hit, Henning-Smith’s research found that “rural caregivers were dramatically less likely to be able to work at home” than their urban counterparts. “And they… Read more »
