After just two weeks DANCING WITH THE STARS, former conservative Congressman Tom DeLay has called it quits. One day after declaring himself either “insane or stupid” and dancing with stress fractures in both feet, the former House Majority Leader sensibly chose last night to follow the advice of both his doctor’s and the show’s producers, withdrawing from the popular competition and ending his pairing with dance partner Cheryl Burke. “If you can’t practice, you make a fool of yourself out here,” DeLay said. “I don’t want to do that to Cheryl.” DeLay has been extended an invitation to come back and dance the Texas two-step (which he would have had to perform next week) on the season finale if he’s feeling better in time.
