Devin Nunes Quits Congress To Be Trump’s Media Boy

Spread The Love

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.  Republican Rep. Devin Nunes of California is leaving Congress to… (wait for it) …run Donald Trump’s new social media venture.

Yes, beginning in January of 2022, Devin Nunes will become CEO of the Trump Media & Technology group.  According to a recent report, Nunes and Trump intend to launch a new social media platform called “Truth Social” which Trump hopes will rival Twitter and Facebook (as revenge for being indefinitely kicked off both networks).

“Devin understands that we must stop the liberal media and Big Tech from destroying the freedoms that make America great,” Trump said in a statement. “We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced,” Trump continued. “Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!”

“The time has come to reopen the Internet and allow for the free flow of ideas and expression without censorship,” Nunes said in his own statement.  “The United States of America made the dream of the Internet a reality and it will be an American company that restores the dream.”

In 2019, Devin Nunes filed a $250 million lawsuit against Twitter claiming that the social media network censors conservative voices through “shadow-banning” and makes money from “abusive, harmful and defamatory” content.

While the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, Nunes defended Donald Trump during his 2019 impeachment trial.  This came after he launched a 2017 committee investigation into Trump’s ties to Russia but recused himself only after Democrats accused him of leaking classified information to the Trump administration.

Not surprisingly, Nunes was also one of the 147 Republican lawmakers who voted to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

So, exactly why would a powerful GOP congressman voluntarily leave Capitol Hill to run a non-existent Trump enterprise that could fail at any moment?  The answer is easy.  California recently realigned its congressional districts, which left Nunes with extremely unlikely odds of being reelected in 2022.

Or, in other words, he recognized he would all but certainly be kicked out of Congress by this time next year, so he took a job with Trump in hopes that it could reinvigorate his fledgling political career.

Too bad for Devin Nunes, but he could already be out of a job before it even begins.

According to a new report, Trump’s new social media company is already being investigated by the US Securities and Exchange Commission for violation of federal securities laws.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen!

Oh…well there you have it…lol. And now Nunes can really put his flunkie skills to work for Trump.

Of course, Trump’s new social media venture is a joke and will be disaster…IF indeed it ever actually launches(?) But no worries. Trump will find something else for Nunes to do…smh.

Yahoo: California Rep. Devin Nunes’ decision not to run for re-election to head former President Donald Trump’s new social media venture is the perfect summation of the state of the Republican Party. This would only make sense in a climate where a Twitter and talk show provocateur like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) — who has been stripped of all her committee assignments — is better known than every ranking Republican with the possible exception of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). Nunes is in line to chair the House Ways and Means Committee following an election in which Republicans are heavily favored, and it is practically the house style of every political publication to append the adjective “powerful” to the tax-writing committee. This is a highly coveted chair. Yet it is no longer the primary path to power or influence in today’s GOP. Five years after nominating a reality… Read more »

This is crazy and makes sense all in one. Trump has become god to the Repubs. All they want to do is please him no matter what. Being in his good grace is more important than being chairman of an important committee in congress to them. It has become insane.
