After suggesting that disinfectant injections of common household products might be an effective treatment or cure for COVID-19, Donald Trump has now failed miserably to walk back his remarks as a “sarcastic” joke.
Health
During last Thursday’s daily Coronavirus Response Team press briefing, Trump shared a few of his own personal suggestions on how to fight the deadly COVID-19 virus, including the use of ultraviolet light. However, things turned south quickly when ‘The Donald’ freestyled a suggestion about injecting a disinfectant into the lungs as a sure-fire killer.
“I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning?” Trump asked to his medical advisors. “As you see, it gets in the lungs, it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that.”
Almost immediately, the world began laughing at Donald Trump, and in less than 24 hours, he had become a laughing stock via a series of MEME’s and social media puns.
So, how did the thin-skinned Trump respond? He called it all a joke. A moment of him merely being “sarcastic.”
“I was asking a question sarcastically to reporters like you just to see what would happen,” Trump told reporters on Friday. “I was asking a sarcastic — and a very sarcastic question — to the reporters in the room about disinfectant on the inside. But it does kill it, and it would kill it on the hands and that would make things much better. That was done in the form of a sarcastic question to the reporters.”
Hmmm…
“Injecting, ingesting, snorting household cleaners is dangerous. It is not advised and can be deadly.” – Dr. Ngozi Ezike, Illinois Public Health Director
OK! Let’s give ‘The Donald’ the benefit of the doubt for a moment. Let’s assume that he WAS, in fact, joking and being sarcastic. Why would any President of the United States provide misinformation as a joke during an official press briefing regarding an active deadly virus that has already killed more than 50,000 Americans??
According to new White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, it was all the media’s fault.
“President Trump has repeatedly said that Americans should consult with medical doctors regarding coronavirus treatment, a point that he emphasized again during yesterday’s briefing,” McEnany said in a statement. “Leave it to the media to irresponsibly take President Trump out of context and run with negative headlines.”
OK! Now, let’s get back to reality — and the reality is, Donald Trump was NOT joking. He was NOT directing his remarks to a reporter in a sarcastic manner. In fact, he WAS speaking to Dr. Deborah Birx from the White House COVID-19 response team.
Need proof? Here ya go:
HERE’S TRUMP PROMOTING DISINFECTANT INJECTIONS:
NOW HERE’S TRUMP CLAIMING HE WAS ONLY ‘JOKING’:
So, exactly where did Trump get the idea for disinfectant injections? You’ll be surprised to learn that it originated with alleged church “archbishop”/drug peddler Mark Grenon, who claims that chlorine dioxide bleach is a “miracle cure” with a 99% rate of (fraudulently) healing such illnesses as cancer, malaria, autism, and HIV/AIDS. Sadly, Fox News says poison control centers across the country have reported an immediate uptick in poison emergencies following Trump’s bright idea.
.
What is the purpose of having White House News Conferences when the Lamestream Media asks nothing but hostile questions, & then refuses to report the truth or facts accurately. They get record ratings, & the American people get nothing but Fake News. Not worth the time & effort!

On Friday, Trump presented the shortest COVID-19 press briefing ever, then refused to take questions from reporters who were locked and loaded to inquire about his ‘disinfectant’ remarks. Also on Friday, Trump’s “handlers” realized that having him in front of a mic and reporters 6-7 days a week was a reelection disaster that was doing so much harm, it was probably time to pull the plug. By Saturday, Trump didn’t hold a press briefing at all and even threatened to end them completely because the “fake news” was treating him unfairly. Oh, boo hoo!
Was Donald Trump only joking and being sarcastic about using disinfectant against COVID-19? Or was Trump just being Trump by never being able to admit he was wrong and lying about what he said??
Sorry, Donny. You won’t be able to wiggle your way out of this one!
I have a few thoughts on this latest display of absolute ignorance, stupidity and depravity ………..
First: I am somewhat reminded of a thought expressed by Ross Douthat (conservative political analyst, NYTimes writer and former editor of The Atlantic). In Oct. 2016, prior to the elections, Douthat questioned if a Trump presidency would signal a kind of “divine judgment” on our land?
The truth is, in 2016 60 Million+ (of mostly) White Americans, including approx 53% of White women, voted that creature into office (via the EC)…and they did so with their eyes WIDE open knowing PRECISELY what to expect. Please REMEMBER that fact.
God didn’t do this to Us, America. WE did this to Ourselves. And now Lord only knows how WE will ever live it down!?!
