DNC 2024 Day 4: Kamala Concludes With Home Run
The Democratic National Convention came to a rousing close on Thursday night. Let’s take a look at DNC 2024 Day 4 and how it will catapult Kamala Harris and Tim Walz into the general election.

DNC 2024 Day 4 was hosted by actress Kerry Washington, whom the world knows as “Olivia Pope” from ABC’s Scandal. Country music artists The Chicks (formerly The Dixie Chicks) sang an acapella version of The National Anthem, while pop star Pink delivered an acoustic musical selection.
A DJ was on hand and kept the crowd upbeat and dancing during set moves and other downtimes. Also, comedian DL Hughley was on hand for comic relief.
The speakers included Gabby Giffords and her husband, Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona, Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, former GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, Sen. Alex Padilla of California, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, Rep. Ruben Gallego of Arizona, Rep. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey, Wisconsin Sen. Tammy Baldwin, Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey, Rep. Maxwell Frost of Florida (the youngest member of Congress), Rep. Joe Neguse of Colorado, Rep. Colin Allred of Texas, House Minority Whip Rep. Katherine Clark of Massachusetts, Rep. Lucy McBath of Georgia, former Housing Secretary Marcia Fudge, former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, and Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland.
Maya Harris, Kamala’s sister, spoke of her pride for her sister and how their mother would be beyond proud if she were alive today. Additionally, Kamala’s young nieces adorably used a segment to explain to the world exactly how to pronounce their auntie’s name (looking at you, Trump!).
However, the highlight of DNC 2024 Day 4 was when Kamala Harris took the stage to thunderous applause and accepted the Democratic nomination for president of the United States.
She spoke about her modest beginnings, her parents, her family life, and her choice to become a prosecutor. She spoke about being a US Senator and the vice president of the United States. She spoke against Donald Trump and his desire to divide America and become a tyrant. She then hit her detractors in the face with policy specifics, discussed how she would tackle the economy, fix the border issue, tackle the Israeli/Gaza situation, remain faithful to NATO, and ensure that the United States remains the best and most powerful nation in the world.
It was her best speech ever and was widely seen as reminiscent of the Barack Obama movement. It was also one of the most memorable conventions of any political party. It certainly made Shirley Chisholm and other female ancestors of color proud.
